Chapter 23 - The Way Up.

Recap:

"Hey! Is this the aquarium?" I asked Cade excitedly. Our dates would be like the ones in the movies: completely wonderful.

Cade smiled and laughed, nodding his head.

I screamed playfully and kissed him quickly.

Life was good, life was amazing matter of fact.

No letters, no stalkers, and my powers, or talents, hasn't gone beserk lately.

We walked in through the metal detector, stopping when Cade had to turn in his watch to stop the beeping.

I bent down to tie my shoe, doing the two bunny ears.

I glanced up only to see a man, right behind Cade, looking as if I was a delectable piece of chocolate cake.

"Don't look now, but that guy is staring dead at us."

Just when we thought we were in the clear.

Hopefully we didn't end up like that fish.

Dead.

CADE

When Rainne spoke those words, I instantly swirled around.

"You dickhead! I intentionally made my first words, don't look now, and you turn around and look?!" Rainne yell-whispered.

I shrugged my shoulders and started casually walking towards his direction holding and cuddling Rainne affectionately.

"Cade?" Rainne questioned.

"Shh, just play along."

We stopped almost directly in front of him.

"Rainne," I started, "lets go get some donuts okay?"

I looked the man dead in the eyes, letting him know I knew what was up. He squinted his eyes at me, burning with a strong emotion.

Rainne gripped my hand tightly, causing me to look at her and see nothing but apprehension in her eyes.

"Y-yeah Cade. Let's go."

I wanted to see if he was really following us , or if he was just annother weird bystander that stared at people.

Neither option was good.

RAINE

It was the same man from before.

He was the one who looked jealous of Cade. He was the one who looked like he wanted to eat me. (I put this sentence on purpose. If your mind instantly gets dirty, join me at church this weekend. Don't be late ;)

When Cade asked did I want donuts, I cautiously said yes.

I didn't really, but I just wanted to leave because this man was giving me the heebee-jeebeez.
