|Mo’s Pov|

I was sitting in Anna’s car, fixing my hair, my makeup, my shirt, just any and everything.  I just wanted for my dad to like me, I was a bit nervous.

I looked over to the car that was already in the driveway when Anna and I pulled up, a Silver Prius. I wondered if it was his, and just thinking of that made me even more excited to meet him. I was anticipating for Anna to come back out here and get me, she said she wanted to talk to him first.

I couldn’t blame her,  she probably just wanted to let him in on things before his unknown 2nd daughter shows up at his door.

I looked his house up and down, it was full brick, a flower bed  lining the house, and sprinklers planted in the ground.

I imagined everything he would be like, a deep voice, tall, and maybe even buff..

It was taking my all not to climb out of this car and march straight inside that house…..

What was taking so long?

“She’s in the car.” I said.

My dad looked drained, his skin pale and worry on his face as he sat on the couch, staring off into space.

“I’m gunna go get her.” I said for the 5th time, but he’s stopped me every time, telling me he was worried about what she would think of him.

He opened then closed his mouth before finally looking back towards me.  “I – I just don’t understand.” He said, shaking his head.

I let an uncomfortable gulp roll down my throat, he looked so scared, hurt, and even a little mad. “She really wants to meet you,” I said, my voice cracking a little. I had explained to him everything that Mo had explained to me,  though leaving out a few details here and there. I could tell that if I hadn’t told him, Mo was outside, then he wouldn’t of been taking it so well.

“I should get dressed…” My dad said, standing. He’s spent his whole life trying to become a chef, but since he had to raise me….. That dream slowly degraded. But finally he’s been able to open a restaurant that gets a pretty good response from the public; it’s packed almost every night. And with Wednesdays being his days off, he spends his time in his house in his pajamas doing what he calls “Me Time.”

“She won’t care what you’re wearing.” I said.

My dad rolled his eyes, “If she’s anything like your mother, she’ll be thinking-“ My dad started.

“That’s the thing, she’s nothing like Mom, she’s sweet and… maybe a little spoiled, but you can’t really tell.” I said.  He huffed, “O.K. go get her” He said a little unsure.

“I bet she’s just as nervous as you are.” I said, turning from my dad and going back to his front door.

I wobbled outside and across the driveway, towards my car. The black pumps I was wearing wasn’t helping my rush, I went to the passenger side of the door and opening it. “C’mon!” I said excitedly, Mo hopped out and followed behind me, quietly.

“Wait.” She said, just as we got to the door step.

I turned to look back at her, “What?” I asked. “Will he like me?” I she asked. “You’re his daughter, what choice does he have!” I joked. “Anna, I’m serious.” She sighed, I opened the front door, “He’ll Love you.” I said, making her smile.

I welcomed her into my dad’s house, it was lit by the two lamps standing on each of the two side tables of the couch, framed pictures of him and I from when I was younger hung on the walls, and the smell of food circulating through the house.
