Hours had past so quickly as I could concentrate on the fact that I had work to do and people to serve. When the clock stuck 5, I knew it was my turn to finally go home. I went into the back room and hooked off my jacket and bag. I pushed through the doors again and said goodbye to the staff walking into the fresh air. I heard a honk of a horn and turned my head to see Trey parked near to the side of the backs street. I jogged over there and made my way inside to be met by blowing warm air. I turned it down a bit.

‘Jeez! It’s a bit warm in here, isn’t it?’ Trey revved up the car again

‘Right, it’s five o clock now. So do you think you and Crystal can be ready in three hours?’ I chuckled

‘I will be ready in about one hour. Crystal will be ready in four.’ I grinned and we made out way down the streets.

‘How many people are coming? I asked. I was never good around too many drunken idiots.

‘Everyone Crystal knows. That’ll be half the collage then. Just people from her and Kyle’s classes. Kyle’s karate friends are coming as well.’ He made a smooth right into another road and then made his way down another street until he parked up out side a block of flats. I pushed open the car door and jogged to the buzzer on the door.

‘Who is it?’ Crystal’s voice rang out.

‘Hey fat ass!’ Trey came up behind my clutching the car keys in one hand. The wind blew softly, the way I liked it to be. The door opened and we made our way up the stairs. As I was about to run up one flight, Trey called out.

‘Just take the lift Cassidy!’ he laughed. The lift doors opened and he stepped inside, before they closed I shouted

‘First one to the top if the winner.’ I raced up the fight of stairs holding on the bars to push me up. I flew over the stairs two at a time until I came to the third floor of the flats, my legs already burning. I saw Treys body appear out of the lift and raced to meet the middle door. We collide with each other giggling and laughing as he held me. I smacked against his chest to reach the door before him. The door opened and Crystal popped out her hair wet and dripped and in a gown.

‘Wow! Crystal! You look great!’ Trey shouted sarcastically.

‘Cass! Get your ass in here now! We’ve only got three damn hours!’ She said panicked. Kyle walked out of the door as I walked in. In symmetric, we both kissed our boyfriend goodbye.

‘Kyle! Happy birthday!’ I sang to him and he grinned.

‘Well, we’ll let you two get ready and in the meantime so will we. Make sure you call us when the parties starting and when everyone is here. Don’t worrying I’ll be practising my ‘surprised face’.’ Kyle chuckled leaving us. He didn’t really like the fuss but Crystal and Trey loved it.  I dropped my bags and coat on the sofa as I walked into their apartment. The decorations of balloons, which were stuck to every corner of the flat, were in a mass of colours, and the banners were already on every wall and window reading ‘Happy 18th Birthday’ The tables were laid out against the far wall ready with drinks and part food and CD’s were stacked ready to be played out loud until the police came and shut us down. The room was already looking like a great party and to my surprise I was pretty excited to relax and just enjoy my best friend’s 18th birthday party. No worries, just my friends and me having a joyful time celebrating something worthwhile.
