My cell phone rang mine and Jess's chicago morning jingle.

We both sighed.

“It's the station... I should take this.” I said grabbing my cell phone from my nightstand.

“Hello..... yea..... WHAT?!... but!...... yeah whatever.... we'll be right down... har har... bye.” I threw my phone to the bed and ran my hand through me hair trying to calm down.

“You okay?” Tom asked still sitting where I left him on my bed... on my bed shirtless....

“This uhm... this is wrong... jess and... uhm.... this is wrong.” I said too flustered to make full sentences. “I should g- I mean what am I saying. This is my room... Uhm.. You should go... Go and uhm...wake Jess.... tell her there is a emergency at the station we need to go in.” I said.

Tom looked at me with a masked face, but I saw the glimmer of hurt lingering in his eye. I couldn't understand his hurt. I've rejected him in front of millions.... why was this so different.... why is it different when he knows it would be wrong to have a one night escapade with Jess and try it with me. I didn't care what happened to me, but Jess is my best friend in the whole bunches of oats world. I would NEVER do something like this to her.

“Delilah I-”

“Please. We really need to hurry to the station.” I said not looking at him and just holding the door open.

He got from my bed and his attitude quickly changed.

“See you later squirt.” He said ruffling my hair as he left.

Once the door was closed I breathed a sigh of relief and picked out my outfit for the day.

Laying out a pair of old pale blue flairs and a plain white tee-shirt with a brown belt. It wasn't anything too stylish, but this was very last minute and laundry day wasn't 'til tomorrow. With that being done I jumped in the shower. My hair remained down to air dry only placing a brown beanie upon it and pulling on my brown combat boots dashing out of my room with my umbrella. The storm still hadn't lifted.

“Tom leave?” I asked secretly thanking god that I already knew the answer was yes.

“No, he is out in the truck waiting.” Jess said slipping on her flats.

“What, why?” I asked

“Because I'm not sure what's up at the studio. If push comes to shove and we have to go on with nothing at least he is there so we can interview him or something.” Jess said opening the door and pulling me to her for the shade of the umbrella.

I saw Tom in the drivers seat of my truck smirking. I glared.

“Did he by any chance suggest this?” I asked.

“Yea, why?” Jess asked opening the truck door.

I glared at him. So that's what he meant by see you later.

'Ass wipe.' my mind cursed at him as Jess shoved me in the middle between her and tom.

We arrived at the station and everyone was silent and working like usual while Cee Cee and Knight's comercial free oldies hour began.

“DEE JAY!” We heard our boss yell down the hall as he came charging at us with papers in hand.

“Oh shit.” was all I could manage.
