"Explosives?! You're gonna-"
"We need to help take out the Starkiller, the pilots can't do any damage from above and they're being attack." Han interrupted Hope's shouting to inform her why they had them and what the plan was. The girl happened to fall silent as they walked out of the base and into the snow, the area they had to be in was around the corner.
"Rey, we need you to open the doors, Finn, you stick with her. Hope-"
"I'm coming with you." She cut him off before he could tell her she was going to stay with the others, she was glad to be with Rey, honestly. But she felt more protected with Han; he's a very good man. There for her when she father and mother died, of course she was going with him. She had to made sure the old man didn't double over in pain, and that made a slight smile cross her face, despite the fact that this could be a suicide mission.
"Okay, kid. Stay close." Han said as he turned around to get into the door that happened to be open, Rey and Finn following after them.
"Be safe." Rey said to her... apparent friend, she briefly pulled Hope into another hug before letting her go, a nervous smile appeared on Hope's face. Though she didn't say anything, she nodded - then quickly followed after Han.
They stood beside one of the unopened doors, waited for a second before they slid open, "The girl knows her stuff." Chewie groaned in agreement, while a bigger smile filter on Hope's face as she jogged after them; they both had really long legs.
"You take up there, I'll get down here. Place them in every other column. You," he turned to Hope, "here's the detonator. Find somewhere safe to hide and then wait for my ok." Han said as he gave the detonator to Hope and kissed her head lightly, then he pulled out his blaster and handed it to her in case trouble found them first. Hope took it in her hands, swallowing thickly before reaching forward to give the man a hug, in a way, she was thanking him. He hugged her back, then Chewie growled out; "Explosives now, hug later."
Han laughed before pulling away and turning away do he could go place the explosives, Hope watched him go; then she turned away and went to a different column, hiding behind that with the detonator in one hand (thumb away from the button) and Han's blaster in the other.
Her breath holding slightly when she heard the doors slide open and footsteps echoed in the empty core, "Search the area." Immediately, a bad feeling settled in the pit of her stomach when she heard his voice, okay, this was a bad idea, this was a very bad idea. They should get out right now... but that wouldn't be possible without starting a full out war. Han didn't even have a weapons. Finn and Rey hadn't arrived yet, so she couldn't do anything but hide and wait and pray that nobody did anything stupid-
"Ben!" Oh no, no, no, no! Bad idea! Bad idea! Hope nearly passed out from the anxiety that was now building up in her stomach, this was bad. When she looked over the one side of the column, she saw Kylo Ren on a bridge with Han slowly walking up to him.
"Han Solo..." Kylo Ren replied, his head cocking to the side; he was wearing his helmet, his voice was disoriented and he was just standing there as the other approached, "I've been waiting for this day for a long time." The man said honestly, she wasn't going to let anyone else die because of this man, so, she raised the blaster up and pointed it at the man's chest, ready to pull the trigger. But she didn't... something stopped her.
"Take off that mask, you don't need it." Han said, now a few feet away from him and waiting.
"What do you think you'll see if I do?" A monster, a murderer...
"The face of my son." Who has then turned into a monster, but Solo refused to acknowledge it... Hope didn't blame him. There was always a smidge of hope for everyone... no matter how small.
Kylo held still for a couple minutes before he reached up and took the helmet off, staring at Han. Then he dropped the helmet with a thunk that echoed off the walls of silence. Briefly making Hope flinch as she started at Ben's face, raising her hand up slightly so the blaster was pointed at it.
"Your son is gone. He was weak and foolish, like his father. So I destroyed him." Kylo said, sound confident in what he knew and what was true.
"That's what Snoke wants you to believe, but it's not true. My son is alive." Han tried to reason as he took a couple steps closer to his son.
"No." He continued to stare at his father, with no emotion grazing his face, "Supreme Leader is wise."
"Snoke is using you for your power. When he gets what he wants, he will crush you. You know it's true." And that's when she saw the tears in Ben's eyes; she almost lowered the blaster, but she was included to hold it tighter, trying to wait for the right moment.
"It's too late." Nearly a whisper, but it was silent in the core. It was easily heard... so was the sound of doors sliding open and a light met Ben and Han; the boy's eyes briefly flicked up - then he was looking back at his father.
"No, it's not." Han insisted, stepping closer to his son until he couldn't move closer unless he wanted to run into him, "Leave here with me, come home... we miss you."
Silence, everybody waiting for Ben's response, no one moved, no one breathed. All the did is wait and listen.
"I'm being torn apart." There were tears in his eyes, as the truth surfaced. He couldn't deny it any more, he couldn't hold it in and he wouldn't, "I want to be free of this pain. I know what I have to do, I don't know if I have the strength to do it; will you help me?" He pulled out his own lightsaber and held it in his two hands, his eyes still filled with tears and sorrow, Ben held it out to Han, waning him to take it.
"Yes... anything." Han replied as he took a hold of it and just looked into his son's eyes, Hope was close enough to see the way his hands suddenly tightened around the weapon.
Her eyes widened as she watched in horror, the blaster still pointed at Ren's head, and she could've pulled the trigger, she could've done something... Hope could've killed him... before...
"No!" Came a loud shout of a voice easily recognised, and before the saber could go through Han's chest, a single shot was fired and struck Ren in the shoulder; Han dropped the lightsaber and then punched his own son in the face. Chewie also happened to open fire and caught Ren on his side.
Han was quick to throw his son to the side, but held onto his wrist to prevent him from falling to his death, then setting his hand on the side of the bridge while he ran.
"Go! Go!" He shouted to his wookie, who was quick to cover Han and get the clones that were shooting at him.
Hope stood up straight and shot at a couple of the clones who were trying to get the man who ran. Though they tried to protect Han at all costs, one stormtrooper was lucky enough to shoot him on the side.
Chewie quickly took care of that one before jumping down and grabbing Han, picking up the older man with ease as he ran for the exit, "Blow it, Hope." The man yelled out, wincing in slight pain as the wookie ran for the exit and jostled him, the girl quickly followed after the two before pressing the detonator as soon as they were far enough away.
And by now, the sun has been drained. It was completely dark.
Just like Kylo's heart.
