Calista's P.O.V.

We drove farther away from the city but I could still hear sirens, I even heard a helicopter. Nick turned off on a road that lead to a place I never thought I'd have to see again. This road made me feel more alone then ever. The city was fading away in the rear view mirror and swampy, marsh-like terrain began to surround us. Then we had arrived to the bridge where my parents died, he knew it too. He laughed as a tear escaped my eye, I quickly wiped it away with the arm that wasn't crippled.

"Mother like daughter.", he laughed, and it felt like someone had stabbed me in my heart.

"At least I had a mother you bastard.", I spat, hate bubbling up. I was not going to go out with all of this hate still on my conscious.

Before I knew it, we were on the abandoned bridge. It was hidden with the overgrown swamp surrounding the lake. He parked the car and pulled the key out of the ignition.

"So we can do this the hard or easy way, but no matter what you decide you will be getting out of this car.", Nick said nonchalantly.

"The easy way.", I said with no emotion.

He stepped out of the car and as soon as he did reached over with my good arm and locked the car doors. I scrambled to the back seat, cursing because of my shoulder, I pulled out my cellphone and called whatever number I pressed. 911 was useless, they let him walk away with me, so if they couldn't do anything then what could they do now? Nick walked to the car door as the phone rang.

"Callie? Is everything ok?", Charlie said, his sweet voice a light in this nightmare.

"Hey I just want you to know that I love you, tell Brett I am love him too and that I'm sorry. You made my life so much better and I thank you for that, you showed me that I'm worth something. I'm so sorry.", I spoke rapidly ignoring all of Charlie's attempts to interrupt me.

"Come out, come out! So I can snap all of those petite bones of yours and toss your body into the damn lake!", Nick laughed, making my death a game. Tears rolled down my face, Charlie was yelling over the other end but I had went numb.

Nick grabbed the car door and ripped it off causing me to let out an ear-splitting scream. I unlocked then opened the car door that I was leaning on and tumbled out, landing on my injured arm causing me to yelp.

"God I love you Charlie please remember that.", I said before hanging up, my heart falling to pieces as he yelled protests through the phone. Then I hung up, feeling relieved that I got to say what I wanted to say.

Nick walked around the car furious and he grabbed my dislocated arm, making me wince.

"Give me the phone.", he said darkly. I spit in his face and threw the phone over the side of the bridge.

He threw me to the pavement and slapped me so hard I thought my neck would break.

"I've done so much for you, you ungrateful slut!", he roared before kicking me and sending me flying into the side of the car. Black was invading my vision and I wasn't going to last long at this rate. But that was okay, I was ready.

"DON'T TOUCH HER.", I heard a voice, a light in the endless darkness I was battling. I began focusing on keeping my eyes open, I needed to stay awake.

The man who saved me at the firm was standing there, in the same exact outfit, a motor cycle helmet concealing his identity.

"You. I can't believe it and here I was thinking I would never get to repay you for the favor you so kindly gave me.", Nick said sarcastically.

"You should've stayed in jail, rotting for what you did.", the man said, not at all frightened.

"What's your deal with her? She's a no good whore! Why do you care for someone you don't even know?", Nick said advancing toward the man.

Then he struck, punching him in the stomach, the man flew just as I had. Before he could get up Nick grabbed two fistfuls of the mans leather jacket, lifted him and them slammed him into the pavement creating a crater. But then the man pushed his arm up towards Nick, and he was sent into a nearby tree with a sickening crack. The man didn't have a scratch as far as I could tell and Nick's wounds were healing themselves.

Then they went at each other fighting like savages, but Nick kept healing. He needed to be knocked out so we could leave. Suddenly, an idea popped into my head and so I tried to find my voice. I didn't have much longer, I felt a warm, sticky liquid on my head which could only be blood and I was probably internally bleeding somewhere.

"Neck..", I managed to get out, though not knowing if he could hear me or not. "Snap...his...neck...he'll...heal...buy...time..", I managed but after getting it out, I felt so sleepy. I fought so hard to keep my eyes open.

The man's helmet was cracked and they were still struggling. He was trying to get Nick into a head lock but he needed a pause to use his abilities. I used what was left of my strength to give him the break he needed. I pushed myself basically screaming as I did, the pain was so intense I thought that I might pass out right there.

"Nick you are a coward. You will never be respected and no one could ever love a low life like you. You have amounted to nothing but a no good drug junkie.", I said knowing he could hear by his facial expressions. He threw the man and came charging and me, I slumped back on the floor.

My eyes closed and I heard a sickening snap and a body hit the ground, I was being scooped up. My heartbeat was in my ears, slowing down. I could finally go to sleep.

"No! Calista you need to stay awake. Please! Calista keep your eyes open talk to me!", I heard a desperate voice cry .

"Please for me Calista, for Charlie!", he said.

How did he know who Charlie was? I forced my eyes open slightly although my body was protesting.

"Charlie?", I murmured, in surprise to see that I was in Charlie's arms. He was wearing the man's clothes.

"Oh angel face thank god. Stay with me, keep talking.", he said, his voice was shaky.

"You are a super hero Charlie.", I murmured keeping my eyes on his face. I pieced together everything I just saw. He gave me a sad smile.

"I guess so, Callie.", he said softly.

"Why didn't you tell me?", I asked.

"I didn't want you to think I was a freak.", Charlie said looking straight ahead as he kept walking.

"I could never think that about you. You saved my life twice, and you saved from .", I said between breaths.

"I'm so tired.", I said softly, my eyes were forcing themselves closed.

"Calista.....don't....please....wake...up..."

Those were the last things I heard before the dark consumed me.
