Calista's P.O.V.
The nurse had came and adjusted what need to be adjusted. Brett kissed my forehead and promised to be back the next day. At first I really tried to sleep, I needed sleep. My chest was aching, but not all of the pain was coming from my injury. Breathing had become a job to do. I realized how you take such simple things like breathing for granted. The simple motion of taking in air became hard for me. I needed help to do something as simple as that.
I stared at the window, wishing that I would've asked the nurse to leave the curtains open. There was a full moon out. Charlie was a vigilante, he had superpowers straight out of a comic book. Maybe this should've made me feel different about him or even scared me. But I didn't feel any different about him.
He was still the same guy, I wasn't mad that he kept it a secret. I know I would have! I would be a hypocrite if I was mad at him for not telling me. I prayed that he was okay. I began to worry and small worrying became huge worrying. My chest just started to hurt worse but I couldn't convince myself that he was alright. Why I was getting so worked up beat me. I sniffled and tried really hard not to cry.
"Calista?"

Charlie's P.O.V.
I snuck into the hospital and used my abilities to get me up to Calista's room. I even put on nurse scrubs. I pushed everything that had just happened to the back of my mind for now. Thinking about it would kill me all over again. I finally came to her room and she was rolled over facing the window across the room. I saw all of the monitors and wires and the was a pain in my heart. Then I heard her sniffle.
"Calista?", I called, hopeful that she was awake.
She flipped over towards me, wincing as she did.
"Charlie!", she whisper-yelled towards me.
Relief flooded my being. I walked over to her waiting arms and sat on her bed. She had tears going down her face as I fought my own.
"You're okay! Where did you go? Why didn't you come to see me?", she whispered quickly, I could tell she was in pain from moving around so much.
"Hey, hey slow down. Slow down. I'm sorry that I couldn't visit sooner, I had things I needed to take care of but I'm here now and I'm not going anywhere.", I whispered as I pulled her into my arms.
"Things? What happened?", she asked as she looked up at me.
I responded with silence, not sure if I wanted to talk just yet. I wasn't sure that I should tell her what went down.
"Hey, look at me,", she said as a tube bound hand came up to turn my head down to face her, "I'm here and I'm not going anywhere."
I chuckled at how she used my words. But I quickly sobered up, and my smile turned sad.
"I did something I'm not proud of."

Flashback
What had I done?
There Hernandez was.
His head separated from his body.
A puddle of blood forming.
I stumbled backwards unable to breathe, I had killed someone. Another strangled cry came out of my throat. I felt like I was going to be sick. But the I heard a groaning come from the far corner of the room. The sadness and remorse for what I had done needed to be dealt with at another time because my job wasn't done yet.
I grabbed the politician and dragged him over to where the gas mask I had been wearing was. I strapped it over his face and he slumped over again but I checked his pulse and he was okay. Then I ran out of the warehouse until I had found a toll phone and anonymously called the cops and directed them towards the building. All of the evidence they would need was in there.
Then I started sprinting towards the hospital.

I hadn't realized that I had begun to silently cry. Calista sat up and pulled my head into her neck. She held me in a tight hug from the side.
"Oh the things that you must be thinking about me.", I said roughly into her neck, the scent of her hair surrounded me.
"What do you think I'm thinking about?", she whispered.
"That I'm a freak who's obsessed with you.", I said sinking lower into my mistakes.
She went silent and I thought that that was it. She was probably going to ask me to leave her alone for the rest of her life. My heart cracked.
"I really should sock you for thinking something like that.", she said in an irritated tone.
"You are not a freak or a monster or a murderer, do you understand me? You are none of those things, you are a hero, you're a savior, you are my angel Charlie.", she began to get choked up as my tears were beginning to dry.
"Are you aware that you are the only reason I'm even alive? Charlie you took out the men who threatened my life, my brother's life. There is no way that I could repay you for these things. And as for your abilities, they don't change anything between us. I accept you for who you are just like you have accepted me."
I sat up and looked into her eyes that were shining with tears. And I kissed her, I wrapped my arms around her waist trying to be careful of the wires. I put my heart and soul into that kiss. Then she pulled away with a chuckle.
"What?", I said huskily.
"Dammit Charlie. I told you to not be my hero and look what you did.", she said with a breath-taking smile.
I touched my nose to hers, smiling.
"I love you. With all that I am.", I whispered.
"And I love you.", she said.
Then my lips came back down onto hers.
