Calista's P.O.V.

For the next few two days Charlie and I would meet up at the park. My cuts were beginning to heal and Charlie.. Charlie could bring me out of my shell like no one else could. We would only talk about Nick a little bit but he would stop asking questions when I got a look on my face. When I did talk about him, Charlie would get a distant look, the same thing would happen when I asked him about his mother. Although I did ask if I could visit her with him some time. He said that he'd really like that.

We also got to know each other a little better, I learned where he went to college, how he met Brett, even where he went to high school. There has been no one coming to my door demanding money or asking for Nick.

The past few days have been good. But unfortunately, all good things come to an end and Nick should be home today.

"I don't know Callie, why don't you just pack you stuff now? I'll come get you." Charlie says concerned. It's 7:30 a.m. and he's at work. I'm just hanging out on the couch, biding my time until Attila the Hun gets home.

"No no, I'll be fine." I said half-heartedly. The TV was on the news, the reporter yapping away.

"Callie he doesn't scare me, I'll come get you." He said gruffly. I sighed and closed my eyes, just wishing it was that easy. He has only known me for a few days and he's willing to come to my rescue.

"Charlie, you should be scared of him. He's a low-life scum yes, but he's scum that has connections. I've made it so far, I'll be okay, if I'm lucky he won't even come home today. He might come back later on in the week." I said while fiddiling with remote. The news started talking about politics, kill me now.

"That doesn't mean he won't beat you when he comes back Calista!" He whisper-yelled. "Aye! Keep your voice down!" I began my sentence but wasn't able to finish as I heard Nick's dark voice echo through the front door. "Shit." I whispered.

"What? Calista what?" He started saying all panicky. "I've gotta go I'll call or text when I get the chance but don't count on hearing from me until Friday."  I whispered quickly. "Calista!" He said but I clicked the end button and began deleting things off my phone.

I heard the door unlock and Nick walked in talking on the phone. He kissed me then left to go into the bedroom going on about something that would "change the drug industry for good" and "when do I start taking it".

The week went on as normal, I avoided getting hit which was quite an accomplishment if I do say so myself. I wasn't able to talk to Charlie although he has been blowing up my phone. Today was Friday and that meant I got to go visit Brett.  Nick was in his office which meant he was.."busy".

I knocked on the door.

"What?"  He snapped.

"I'm leaving to go to Brett's, I'll be back in an hour or two." I said with disgust seeping into my voice.

"Whatever." He said.

I glared at the door and then went to get my shoes, purse, and keys. I drove to Brett's office muttering and ranting about Nick and his stupid drugs. I was able to cover up my eyebrow with my hair but I had to cover up my cheek with make-up. Traffic was awful as it usually is but I was glad to be out of the house again. I arrived at the building at went through the lobby and elevator until I finally got to the right floor.

As soon as I walked in Charlie looked up from his computer and did a double-take when he realized it was me. I shot him a bright smile then headed into my brother's office.

"Ello Brett."  I said as I took my usual seat. He smiled at me but he was one the phone.

"One minute." He mouthed, I nodded my head. My cell phone buzzed, Charlie.

Charlie: Are u ok?? U havent been replying to me at all!

I rolled my eyes at his concern and then texted him back.

Calista: I'm perfectly fine, I told u that u didn't hav to worry."

I hit send and looked up at Brett who just hung up the phone.

He walked around his desk and gave me hug which I returned.

"How have you been?" He asks as he returns to his desk.

"Oh just hanging in there as always. How are you doing?"  I asked, my phone vibrated.

"Good, the firm is doing well. My boss is happy with me so what more can I ask for?" Brett said.

"Well I take that back, I could ask for you to break-up with that asshole but we both know where that's going to go." Brett said gruffly.

I sighed and Brett was about to say something when the phone began to ring. He pushed a button and the voice was on speaker.

"I'm sorry to bother you sir, but we have bit of a dilemma." A male voice said through the speaker.

"Well what's going on Frank?" My brother says as he furrows his eyebrows.

"There's a man here demanding a Calista? Says his name is Nicholas. He looks a little out of it though boss what do you want me to-" I didn't even hear the rest of the man's sentence, I was racing to the lobby the minute he said Nicholas.

The last thing I wanted was for him to cause a scene or hurt someone. The elevator ride was painfully slow and the minute the doors opened I ran to the developing crowd in the middle of the lobby.

"No I want to see her now dammit! No one tells me to wait.." Nick said. I heard murmurs from people as I ran across the lobby. "Should I call 911?" "That man should be in jail." "Look at him, he's obviously high out of his mind."

"There you are! Jesus, what the hell Calista?" Nick yelled outraged.

"I told you.." I said in a small voice but was cut off by his thundering voice.

The security backed off but stayed within a few feet, allowing us some space. "NO you didn't tell me shit. You ungrateful bitch! All I do for you, and this is how you repay me?!" he screeched.

"Nick I told you I was coming here! If you would just listen every once in awhile instead of sniffing that shit!! I'M ungrateful?! All YOU do for me?! YOU DON'T DO JACK SHIT!" I screamed, losing my temper. I was trembling with rage, people were talking, a soft buzzing in the background.

He lost it too. He grabbed a fistful of my hair and began dragging me towards the doors.

"You don't want to even know what I'm going to do to you when we get back.." he growled.

The security quickly intervened by blocking the exits. I heard someone say that the police where on their way. "If you know what's good you you'll move outta the way." Nick said menacingly to a guard.

"Hey!" a familiar voice yelled. I turned my head and saw Charlie walking towards us. I mouthed no over and over to him but he didn't care. Nick didn't turn around, he stayed facing the door and said in his most chilling voice ever,

"You talking to me?"
