"Are you outta your mind?!" I yelled at him.

"Get away Charlie he'll kill you!!" I was pulling and tugging trying to be free of his grasp but it did nothing. Charlie stood no more than a few feet away from us.

Nick swung around pulling me with him.

"You know him?" Nick said in a dead calm voice. This was going to end very badly. It seemed like this had been going on for hours but it had all taken place in less than 10 minutes.

"Aye I asked you a question bitch." He snapped as he shook me.

"Don't call her that." Charlie said in a warning tone.

"Or what? What are you going to do?" Nick said challenging Charlie.

"Let her go before things get messy." Charlie said as he took a step towards Nick.

"Messy?" Nick laughed, then pulled out a gun from the back of his pants.

"It's too damn late for that." Nick said as he pointed the gun at Charlie.

"Nick!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, my nails clawing at his fist. I was trembling with fear, but alert with adrenaline.

I began to squrm with all of my power. Nick pointed the gun at the side of my head and I froze. All of the guards had their tasers pointed at Nick.

"All of you back off or she dies. And make sure no cops get in." He said. The guards did as they were told and the crowd moved back. Charlie took a step back.

I saw Brett standing a few feet behind Charlie with pure rage and hatred on his face. I'm dead, this is it I'm going to die.

Charlie's P.O.V.

Oh god, oh god. There are too many people watching, I thought to myself. I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. The girl who I'm falling so deeply for has a gun pointed to her head and unless I do something she's going to die. Mr. Felix put a hand on my shoulder and moved his head to the back. I looked back at Callie who nodded her head at me telling me to move back. I was about to protest when an idea popped into my head. I moved back into the crowd and blended in until no one noticed me. Then I slipped into the stairway.

Calista's P.O.V.

I watched Brett walk up as Charlie receeded. But the tightness in my chest just got tighter as I thought about Brett being shot. The police were outside of the firm, waiting for orders from their superior.

Nick let out a sick laugh. He was out of his damn mind.

"Now Nicholas, I'm sure we can work something out." Brett said calmly. He didn't show an ounce of fear or nervousness. Nick was completely unpredictable right now.

"I never did like you. You always would put ideas in her head, always preaching freedom and good. All that bullshit. Now who should pay the price? Hmm? Not everyone is going to get to walk away from this." Nick said as he fiddled with a piece of my hair. I was frozen, couldn't talk, couldn't move, couldn't do anything.

"Well I am fond of this little bitch, but I'm sure after some discipline she'll be back to normal. So that leaves you doesn't it?" He said, and I felt the gun being removed from my head and pointed at Brett. I let out a blood-curdling scream and the glass shattered behind us.

Nick spun around and I spun with him. The gun was still out front and center, ready to be fired. The police stood there with their mouths hanging open and the security guards did the same. The man came in with a motorcycle helmet on and you couldn't see his face or anything. He was wearing leather gloves and a leather jacket. He had heavy biker boots on and he walked into the firm.

"You have to be kidding me! Who the hell are you?" Nick laughed and pointed the gun at him. But the man kept walking towards us, everyone was so silent you could hear a pin drop.

"Alright if that's how you want to play it." Nick said and then pulled the trigger. Everything went into slow motion as the bullet went flying into the man, someone screamed. The bullet should have killed the man, it should have ripped through his heart, but instead it fell to the ground after leaving a hole in the man's jacket.

No one said anything, we just watched him. Including Nick, he didn't have anything to say. The man continued to walk foward. Nick snapped back to reality and tightened his hand around my hair and pointed the gun at my head.

"Stop right there or I'll blow her brains out." He was shaking now.

The man stopped walking, and raised his hand. He made a sudden motion to the side and the gun flew out of Nick's hand. The man then raised his hand again and the force grabbed a hold of Nick. And the same as he did before, with a flick of his wrist Nick was thrown into the wall and got knocked out. I sat there staring in awe as he walked towards me. His heavy boots crunched the glass. He was now in front of me and his hand moved. I flinched away and he stopped moving his hand.

The police were snapping out of their daze, but I looked up at the man before me. He turned his head to look at the police who began aiming their guns and dishing out orders.

"Thank you." I whispered and his head whipped around before he ran to the stairway. My vision was getting fuzzy, blackspots swarmed around.

The last thing I remembered was the cops rushing in and the crowd going crazy.

I woke up to a white ceiling that wasn't my own. There was a monotone beeping in the background and clock on the wall across from me.

"Calista?" Brett asks. I try to turn my neck to look at him but wince in pain.

"Easy there trooper." Brett says as he moves into my line of sight.

"Where am I?" I ask, but I realize my throat was dry as sand paper.

"The hospital, do you remember anything?" Brett asks as he reaches for a cup on the table beside me.

He handed me the cup and I gulped the water down. I tried remembering. I had driven to the firm and then...oh my god Nick. All the memories came sweeping over in a blur. My heart speeds up and the beeping in the background along with it.

"Callie calm down your safe now, you're safe." Brett says squeezing my hand. I squeeze my eyes shut and focus on breathing.

"Where is he?" I ask when I find my voice.

"In police custody. You're safe now, that bastard won't ever lay a hand on you again." He says softly. I let out a dry humorless laugh.

"Safe? Safe? We are far from safe Brett. I'm dead and you're dead. Just because he's in jail doesn't mean he won't have someone sent after us!" I say and the monitor speeds up again.

"Callie calm down. He isn't that powerful, he's at the bottom of that food chain." He says flatly.

"What about that man?" I ask quietly.

"They never caught him, though now he's all over the internet and the news. People don't know what to make of him, hell I don't know what to make of him. But he saved your life and I owe him." That mysterious man saved me, saved Brett.

"Well what happens now?" I ask mentally drained.

"You're being discharged this evening, we could stop by your apartment and get your belongings." He offers.

"Alright." I say, but my mind is somewhere else. The stranger who saved my life and my sweet Charlie.
