CHAPTER 29
February 14, 2015
Zac was nervous--heart racing, palms sweating, feeling nauseated--kind of nervous. She was across the table from him, looking more beautiful than ever before. Her long blond hair fell into beautiful waves that kissed her shoulders and beyond. The sight of her alone was enough for him. Her pout red lips and large blue eyes called to him every moment. It took all he had to not reach across the table and kiss her. He longed to kiss her every day. No, he must play it cool. She was talking about something, but he couldn't hear her words. He was too distracted by her beauty. She was the most beautiful girl he'd ever known. He loved everything about her. He couldn't believe that she loved him back. He felt like the luckiest guy alive. Hopefully this night would go just right.
"So I told Trevor to zip his lips! That brother of mine is so ridiculous! If he wasn't my brother I'd shake him to pieces!" She giggled, her eyes sparkling.
Zac blinked at her. Was he supposed to laugh? He hadn't been listening at all. He forced out a chuckle. "Oh, that Trevor!"
"Right?!" She smiled back at him. She had perfect white teeth underneath her plump lips. He tried to not stare at her lips. He was daydreaming of kissing her again.
"Zacchya, you're so damn beautiful." Zac blurted out.
"Oh! Thank you! You're not too bad yourself! Every girl in this place is staring at you!" She blushed. No matter how many times he told her, she still blushed. And she was right, numerous girls were checking out Zac. He was so handsome.
"It's true! I can barely focus! I don't think I could make it without you. I love you so much!"
"I love you too, Zac. Baby, are you ok? You seem....Oh, I don't know, different."
"I'm better than ok! I have you, don't I?"
"Yes, of course you do." She smiled at him, getting lost in his dark eyes.
Without warning, Zac jumped out of his chair, rushed to her side, kneeled at her legs. He rested his arms on her knees, staring up at her.
"Oh, Zacchya! I love you! I need you with me all the time! Do you love me as much as I love you?" He gazed into her eyes, waiting for the perfect answer.
"Yes, I do. Please get off the floor, baby. I love you, you know that!" She pleaded.
"Marry me? Make me the happiest man alive!" Zac pulled out a ring from his pants pocket. Inside was a beautiful 1 carat round cut diamond on a gold band.
Zacchya's mouth flew open in surprise. Tears formed in her blue eyes.
"Zac...I..."
"Just say yes!" His eyes stared up at her, lost in the beauty and the nerves of the moment. His heart was pounding so loud, he was sure she'd hear it.
Tears leaked from her eyes, but not from joy. "I ...can't, Zac. I love you so much, I do! But not yet. Oh, God! I'm so sorry!" She cried. How could she do this to the man she loved?
"Why?" Zac frowned up at her, confused as he fought back tears. How could she say no? He was sure she'd say yes.
"I feel like such an asshole!" She whispered, as the people in the restaurant were now staring at them. "It's the worst time in the world for me. I'm... no good. I'm not a good person. And I have to make it right. Please, Zac, ask me again later! I'll say yes. I just can't say it now!" She cried, her mascara running down her flushed cheeks. She reached down to hug him, but he didn't return the hug.
