CHAPTER 9

October 31/ November 1, 2014

Bobby was furious at himself, and scared. April and Tim had been so right. Coming to the tracks was a horrible idea. He and Trevor stood at the entrance of the tracks, by the side of the road, waiting. He was sure one of the girls was dead. Bobby shook his head, fighting back tears. What if it was Trina? He never even got to tell her how he felt about her. They were waiting for the girls to meet up with them. It had been about 15 minutes and there was no sign of them anywhere. He was sure that Alicia was the killer, and that's why Jacob had chased them. He never hoped she would get murdered too though. "You don't know they're dead," he thought to himself.

Earlier that night, they had met up where he and Bobby were standing now. Trina was smart and brought a backpack with flashlights to navigate through the dark trees that surrounded bridge. They all stood there, scared to enter the bridge.

April and Tim drove up, parking beside them. "Thank God, we didn't miss you! I was so worried!" April said as she jumped out of the car.

"April, I'm sure it'll be fine, don't worry about it." Bobby said.

"Come with us, then! The more people there, the less likely he is to grab one of us, if you're that worried about it." Alicia replied.

"You guys, I've had a horrible feeling since we talked about this. I tried to push it out of my mind, thinking I was just overreacting. Or maybe I was just scared to see Jacob again. Maybe I was just scared the killer would find us... I don't know. But that wasn't it! I'm telling you; my gut says to leave him alone. Whatever brought him back from the dead... it couldn't have been something nice. Happy, peaceful people don't return from the dead. They just don't!" April pleaded.

"We know that, April. It's not like we're going to walk to Jacob and do something stupid. We'll keep a safe distance in case he... in case he's violent." Trevor said.

"Guys, we're leaving town tonight. I don't know how you can't feel the darkness over this town right now. If we don't hurry, we'll get sucked in too. You can feel the evil in the air, almost." April shuddered. "Don't look at me like I'm crazy, man. I'm serious. Something bad is going to happen. I know it. I know it."

"April, the darkness over the town is the shit cloud from the feedlot. It bothers me daily too..." Bobby smirked.

"That's so not funny, Bobby." Tim glared.

"We wish you weren't leaving, April, Tim, but I don't feel the pressing evil like you do. Maybe I'm blind to it, or maybe it's far enough away still. I'm sure we'll stay safe. I know I'm standing in the back. This whole thing scares me, that's for sure. But not enough to skip on getting the truth. You know I...we all cared about Jacob." Trina said trying to reassure April.

"I want the truth too, Trina. I do. Just not enough to do something stupid about it." April sighed.

"We'd better go, baby." Tim finally spoke out, touching her hand lightly.

"You're right. We're leaving for Vegas, getting married as soon as I'm 18 in two weeks. I wish ..." April's voice trailed off.

"Be sure and call us. We'll miss you. Tell us you're going to come back!" Trina said.

"We'll keep the phone off for a few days, just to be alone. We'll miss you. And we're not sure... eventually we might be back." April replied. She hugged each one of them tightly, hoping it wouldn't be the last time she seen them. She didn't want any of them to die; it was too horrible to think about.
