CHAPTER 4

September 27, 2012

Jacob Track sat at the lunch table waiting for his friends, The Misfits, to join him. As he waited, his mind wandered with thoughts of Zacchya Packers. She was in The Misfits, and one of the most beautiful girls he'd ever seen. She had long wavy blond hair, big blue eyes, and a wide sincere smile. Jacob always felt butterflies in his stomach when she smiled at him. He had always found her beautiful, since they'd met as kids, but over the summer she had particularly blossomed. Her body began to fill out, giving her more womanly curves, and her face lost some of its childish features. Now she was simply stunning and his thoughts continued to drift towards her. She was more than just a pretty face to him, however. Zacchya was one of his favorite people to talk to. She was always cheerful and so easy to like.

He had dated Trina Johnson over the summer, but it had ended after school started. He had an amazing summer with Trina, but even though he cared deeply for her, she wasn't the right girl for him. She cared more for him than he did for her, unfortunately. Relationships were hard enough, why make it worse with uneven attraction? He was sad to dump her, but knew it was the right decision. They were just better as friends. She had seemed to be coping with that fact so far.

The group slowly made their way to Jacob's table. Bobby, Tim, Trevor, Alicia, Trina, April, and Zacchya all found a seat.

"How do you always beat us here?" Trevor asked as he stuffed a bite of roast beef sandwich in his mouth.

"History is so boring, even the teacher gets tired of it! He lets us out a minute or two before the bell. Everyone knows Colonel Mustard started all the wars with the wrench in the study!" Jacob laughed.

"You're an idiot... Colonel Mustard..." Tim chuckled as he rolled his eyes.

"And you know that cafeteria lady likes my big blue eyes. She gives me whatever I want." Jacob winked.

"She's about 150 years old, too!" Bobby snorted.

"Jealous, I see. No old broads giving you extra potato chips, hmm?" Jacob grinned widely.

"Well son of a bitch!" Bobby laughed when he noticed Jacob really did have an extra helping of potato chips.

"Silly boys! So, Jake, your birthday is coming up in a few weeks. Did you decide what you want?" Zacchya asked with a smile.

"Um..." Jacob shifted nervously in his chair. He knew what he wanted: to be Zacchya's boyfriend, but he couldn't tell her that, obviously. "What about a yacht?"

"I'll get right on that!" She giggled.

"Ok...Fine, fine. I'll just hang out with my best friends...even though money is quite acceptable."

"Well I'm your best friend. My company is enough!" Trevor laughed.

"No, no, Trev, I'm his best friend!" Bobby said firmly.

"And we're all chopped liver, I suppose?" Alicia rolled her eyes.

"Yes, you are!" Bobby smiled, sticking out his tongue.

"So mature there, Bobby." Alicia rolled her eyes.

"I'd rather be a hamburger at least." April chimed in.

"Tacos would be better if we have to be a food item." Trina smiled.

"Is it weird I want to be a block of sharp cheddar cheese?" Zacchya giggled.

"Nah, you're cheesy already! It makes sense!" Trevor laughed.

"You guys are really freaking weird..." Tim rolled his eyes.
