CHAPTER 3
November 2, 2013
It was over. Officer Reynolds was close enough to grab the gun before Zacchya pulled the trigger. He got her handcuffed so everyone was safe again. Zacchya sat in the backseat of the police car, sobbing. She was so angry that she didn't die. She was supposed to die! How could they do that to her? It was the only way. "It should be over," she whispered through her tears. Nothing could soothe her now. She pulled her knees up to her chest. She cried harder, wishing that she could disappear forever.
The crowd watched as the police car took Zacchya away. Trevor and Hollie were holding each other tightly, sobbing. Neither understood what had caused her to do this. Zacchya had never had depression issues. She was never suicidal before. Something was definitely wrong. They knew Zacchya had loved Jacob, but she had been the one to break off the relationship.
"I don't understand, Mom. I just don't understand it at all." Trevor cried, his arm wrapped around his mom's shoulder.
"Neither do I... she's going to need us more than ever, Trev. Whatever she's feeling now, it might get worse before it gets better. She needs us as a family. It's going to be a hard route for all of us." Hollie spoke as a few tears rolled down her reddened cheeks.
"I'm not ready for any of this. Not ready for Jacob...not ready for Zacchya...I can't do it." Trevor cried.
"Yes you can, baby. She's your twin sister, Trevor. You're going to have to be strong for her, even when you don't want it. We both are. There are going to be days we will both want to disappear, but we can't. If she needs us, we have to be there. Depression is a hard, long road. She's going to need support from both of us." Hollie said soberly.
"I'll try, Mom." Trevor frowned as they headed toward their car. It felt wrong leaving without Zacchya. They'd have to go to the police station to see her. He didn't feel strong enough to deal with any of it. How could he watch his twin sister almost shoot herself in the head and ever be ok with it?
As the people made it back to their cars, some running, some walking, one man smiled. It was a wide grin in a sea of sad scared faces. Now, what that smile meant...it was more than anyone could say. But that man was happy, extremely giddy inside. And it was eating away at him to hide it. A small part of him was afraid someone would notice the smile spread across his face, but knew that Zacchya's near suicide was a good enough distraction.
"If they only knew," He thought to himself. He had hoped Zacchya's suicide wouldn't be stopped, but it was ok for now. There was always ways to fix the mistakes of others. He suppressed a chuckle. He had so much work to do this week, but the funeral couldn't be missed. The crowd didn't know, but he had his hand in the pot. How? He would never say. The truth would come out at the right time, and this was nowhere near the right time. He smiled as he slid into his car. As he made his way out toward the highway, he laughed. He didn't hold in his laughter. How could he? Nothing had excited him more. "Today was beautiful," he smiled to himself.
So beautiful in fact, that instead of going home rightaway, he found a dirt road, drove into the country to be alone for a bit. He stopped the car and pleasured himself. His life goal was coming true. He had planned it all for years. No oneknew the plan, and no one would stop it. It had taken a lot to get where there. He had planned everything down to the last detail; made sure that even if theplan changed, he had a plan B, C, and even a plan D. Everything was perfect.Oh, so deliciously perfect.
