CHAPTER 18
November 24, 2014
All of the Misfits were crowded comfortably in Bobby's new apartment for his 18th birthday party. Bobby had managed to find some second hand furniture: an ugly, ragged brown couch, some mismatched plastic chairs, and a twin sized mattress. He borrowed a small dorm-sized fridge from Trevor, who had one in his room, and the apartment was already furnished with a stove. He was happy with the place, no matter how small it was. There was nothing better than being away from his abusive dad, just being free.
He and Trina had been spending a lot of time together, really letting their relationship grow. Bobby had offered to throw himself a birthday party so that everyone could come over and hang out. They were always so busy with school and things, it was hard to get time to just be friends and enjoy each other's company. Trina made a cake, chocolate with whipped cream frosting. Zacchya brought some DVD's to watch that everyone wanted to see. Trevor brought hot dogs and Alicia brought chips and pop.
Even April and Tim, who had been back since late November and living with her mom, came to the party. April had been absolutely devastated to learn of her dad's passing. She was angry and confused but chose to stay civil as her dad wished. Patty had never been as happy as the day she returned. April explained that they were having such a good time in Las Vegas, they couldn't bring themselves back. They had gambled and won just enough to stay longer. Their wedding was great, but sadly no pictures were taken. It had been very private. They both enjoyed the freedom of Las Vegas.
April felt extremely guilty of all the good memories she and Tim made, after finding out about Nick. She wished she could take it all back, but there was nothing to be done about it. The past was unfortunately in the past.
Alicia and Trevor were no longer dating, but were trying to stay friends. However, it was a little harder for Trevor, as Alicia had recently gone on a date with a basketball player in their class, Kevin. He tried to hide his jealousy and be a good friend but mostly he thought, "Fucking Kevin. Fuck him."
Zacchya was there, but she was still having a hard time getting along with Trevor. No matter how much he apologized, she was still angry with him. Sometimes so much so that she could barely look at him. She gritted her teeth for Bobby's sake and played nice.
Bobby and Trina were snuggled on the couch, next to Trevor. Alicia and Zacchya were in some plastic chairs, April and Tim were covered up in a blanket on the floor, leaning against the wall. The group of Misfits were together again, happily munching away on chips, watching X –Men: Days of Future Past.
"That speedy kid is pretty fucking sweet, dude." Bobby smirked.
"Totally! I like that girl that makes the pretty teleport holes, or whatever you call them." Trina smiled.
"Pretty teleport holes! Oh, gosh... I'm dating Barbie over here!" Bobby laughed and kissed her cheek.
"Puhhhlesse! Barbie ain't got shit on me!" Trina giggled, flipping her hair.
"Oh, lovebirds, I'm going to puke. Can't I watch Magneto in peace?" Trevor sighed.
"Magneto, huh? Oh, so Mystique's name changed? I missed the memo! You know you checking out 'dat ass, bro!" Bobby laughed.
Trevor winked and kept watching the movie.
"Jennifer Lawrence ain't that hot. Mystique is ok...I like Storm myself. Make all the thunderstorms I want!" Alicia chimed in.
"And no more damn snow!" Zacchya said.
"Exactly!" Alicia laughed.
"Glad that last bit of snow melted. So sick of that!" Tim replied.
