The Abused Mate

Chapter 4 -Sebastian's POV

I glanced at Lena as we made our way through the woods. Her head was low so I knew she was thinking about something. We got to the small river about an hour into our journey and there was still a lot of ground to cover to get to the beach houses.

"You wanna run? It could prove a distraction for the both of us after today." I asked her.

"Why not, besides we don't want to keep them waiting all night." she replied raising her head to look at me.

Her light brown eyes glowed in the setting sun that was shone through the gaps in the trees. Her eyes were filled with pain and sadness and everyday I wish I could take it away but I knew I couldn't and it hurt to know what she went through everyday.

I poked her side with my nose to get her started and while we were racing through the trees I saw her start to relax and become her usual self.

We ran for two more hours before the trees started thinning and the dirt wasn't has hard packed.

"We need to shift we are getting close to the beach." I told her slowing down my pace to a walk.

We separated to shift and change before meeting back up again and continuing to the beach. We walked through the trees to see the rest of the family waiting for us. Beside them was a large bonfire with several logs set up around it as seats.

Richard came up to us and looked at us expectantly. We knew that he wanted to know if we had found our mates today. We both shook our heads and waited for his reaction.

He was silent before speaking. "This was your last chance Sebastian and because of this I might have to kick you out because of your lack of a mate." he told me. I was stunned before I remembered that it was one of many of the first werewolf laws and my dad was strict about them and followed them exactly.

"I know and if you want me to leave I will." I said.

"But I won't because you are my son and I care about you, but you will have to leave the pack by the time you turn 25 so you still have time to find a mate and stay in the pack." he said before turning to Lena.

"And you, just look at you, no wonder you don't have a mate. You're weak and small and you need to depend on others for help." he practically spat. "We are having company tomorrow so I want you to make something good for lunch. In the meantime meet me in the room upstairs with the closed door, I will be there shortly." he said before he dismissed us.

When I looked at Lena as we headed toward the largest beach house her face had gone white and she had a scared look on her face.

We walked into the house and upstairs in silence before stopping at the closed door. I grabbed her in a hug and didn't let go until she pushed away.

She sighed before walking into the room and closing the door behind her. In the time the door was open I saw it was a bedroom and I suddenly realized what Richard was doing to her.

"We are sharing a room and it's at the end of the hall." I told her through the door before walking to our room and sitting on my bed. The room was smaller than the one we had at home but it had a similar layout. Our things were at the front of our beds waiting to be unpacked.

I heard Richard come up the stairs and go into the bedroom where Lena was. I didn't hear a thing through the walls but I knew what was happening to her. He was abusing and using her like he had been for the last several days whenever he called her up to his office.

An hour went by before I was called by Richard.

"Sebastian, come get your cousin!" he called before going back downstairs and outside.

When I walked into the room Lena was on the floor unconscious. Richards scent was all over her when I got closer and he had left a bloody whip on the floor. Lena had new lash marks all over her body and I was careful when I picked her up to carry her out of the room.

"Taylor I need help with Lena, come quick." I said through the mind link.

When she came upstairs Sky had come with her. He cursed under his breath when he saw Lena but his eyes widened when he caught her scent.

"Did he..?" he asked in horror.

All I could was nod my head. Their reactions were similar as they both covered their Taylor covered her mouth and they both silently cursed. I would have smiled if it were not for the situation at hand.

"We have to get her cleaned up. Sky go get some Rubbing Alcohol and bandages for the worst of the lashes." Taylor told him before motioning for me to follow her into the bathroom. Taylor started the water, "I'm going to need help with her Sebastian, can you please get some scissors to cut her clothes so we don't rub the lash marks? she said. As I left the room Sky had come back with a bottle, bandages and several towels.

Lena was beginning to stir as we were applying the final bandage on her side.

Sky left the room to make sure the coast was clear of the family members. "All clear, they are all still outside." he said when he came back.

Lena started to become more conscious as Taylor dressed her and brushed her hair of any knots.

"Ow." she said raising her hand to her head. When she noticed that she had been undressed, showered, bandaged, and redressed by her cousins she turned and hung her head.

"Don't worry about it Lena, we had to do it or you would have gotten infected and then we would have worse problems." Taylor said standing up.

"I got her guys, you can go if you want." I said walking back into the bathroom and picking Lena up. She winced where my body made contact with her more recent lashes. When I turned to walk back out Taylor and Sky were still there.

"Come on Sky she's in good hands let's go before people start looking for us." she said before grabbing his arm and taking him back downstairs.

When I had Lena in bed I thought she was sleeping until she spoke. "Please stay Sebastian" she said looking at me from pained eyes.

She patted the covers inviting me and I hesitated before laying on the bed next to her. Lena curled up against me my left hand in hers. I carefully wrapped my arm around her and held her even after she had fallen asleep.

Alone with only my wolf Brady for company I thought if I wasn't Lena's cousin but her mate. Then I would be able to protect her from every one who caused her harm and keep her safe. I shook the though from my head knowing it would never happen. Before I fell asleep I looked down at Lena and saw a small smile on her face. I kissed her forehead before letting sleep over take me.
