The Abused Mate

Chapter 21- Tyler's POV

I made my way down the hall briefly pausing at the closed door of my fathers office. He was arguing with someone in the room as I heard two sets of footsteps pacing. "They didn't do it on their own, they had help but from whom?"

"Maybe Duke's pack assisted?" my fathers Beta Tom suggested a little unease.

"But they did it while the ENTIRE pack was here! How could he have pulled that off?" my dad screamed.

I left not wanting to be involved with the situation at hand. A few days ago we found the cages holding my older siblings empty with the doors neatly popped open. My family was either a traitor or close to it. My twin sister Taylor hadn't spoken to me in weeks. Not since I tried to explain the whereabouts of Lena to her which was a week or so after I told her it was all her fault for losing Lena. She spent most of her time in her room sleeping or at the small pond she found that had the faintest smell of Lena still hanging around. I walked out the front door and sat down at the bottom step of the front porch.

"I was looking for you." my beta Charley said sitting next to me. "By the way I heard whats happening in a few weeks."

"It's actually not happening until Richard says it will, he has a plan. We let out a rumor that it's happening in a few weeks and when that time comes they'll think we only played them. When the real time comes we'll take them by surprise capture Lena alive and come back." I told him.

"What about Sky and Sebastian?" he asked.

"They could be killed in the fight for all Richard cares. He just wants Lena alive so he can trade her off to the rogues for a few more years of peace." I answered.

"And Taylor? Are you going to tell her?" he asked.

"She's been told already. She'll participate in the fight with every other able bodied wolf." I told him.

"No. I won't let her leave." he said standing up and getting in front of me.

I stood up challenging him. "I don't care what you think. Duke's pack is larger than we are and we need every single wolf that can fight out there." I growled getting in his face. He was a few months younger than my sister so when he reached maturity he realized that Taylor was his mate. She accepted him and him her. I found my mate when the all the Atlantic Packs met for the annual meet of any eligible wolves who hadn't found their mates yet. She would be brought into the pack when I took my fathers place as Alpha.

His lip curled and my wolf Wess reacted by forcibly shifting and pinned Charley down. Charley shifted underneath us and exposed his neck signaling that he was submitting to me. I got off of him and went back into the house pushing the door open with my head so I could change.

I was going over the plans of how we were going to take over Duke's pack with the help of the rogues when my door opened and my father walked in.

"Oh good you got the plans. What do you think of it?" he asked coming to stand next to me.

"It's fine except the back right flank isn't protected as well as the others." I told him pointing to the area.

"That's because that's the group that's going to sneak in while Duke's pack in busy and go for Lena, disable her and bring her back." He told me.

"What if her mate is near her?" I asked.

"If he gets in the way they have orders to take him out. That way the rogue Alpha can take her as his more easily." he told me. "If Sky and Sebastian are with her we'll either kill them or take them back as prisoners." he added. "Also I wanted to let you know that Sabrina is here." he said before walking out.
