   chapter 8

Sonic was riding toward the town unaware of Shadow following him. Sonic had Bella at a full gallop, he was determined to get to Scourge. Since Bella was a mare, she wasn't as fast as a stallion. But her strides were long and hard. if you'd looked at Bella from a side view, it was like a slow motion film...
Sonic could hear her snorts as her front legs hit the ground every two seconds. Bella's long white mane, and tail flowing in the hot dry air.

Shadow saw Sonic up a head, hoping to catch up to him. Shadow kicked Bello hard to put him in a full gallop. Since Bello was a stallion he was naturally faster, and stronger then mares... Shadow was catching up to Sonic rather quickly, his horse snorting, with the pounding of hooves hitting the dirt. Sonic started to hear more hooves hitting the ground... he looked down to see Bella's hooves, thinking that she "through" a horse shoe. But her feet where fine. Then he looked back and saw Shadow ridding Bello!

"Sonic! Wait!"

"Come on... Bella go faster! We can't let Shadow catch us!"

Shadow quickly caught up,  reached over and pulled on Bella's reins to make her stop, while doing so he was pulling on Bello's reins as well... Bella skidded to a stop... along with bello... "Sonic what the Hell do you think your doing?!"

"You can't stop me Shadow! So don't even make an effort!" Sonic yelled in anger, avoiding Shadow's question. Sonic grabbed Shadow's hand trying to make him let go of the horses reins, but Shadow wouldn't let Sonic go, and be possibly raped by the monster!"Shadow please let go... I have to face my greatest threat... if I don't..." Sonic choked up, suddenly breaking into tears. He put both his hands up to his face and qiuetly sobbed to himself. Shadow moved Sonic off his horse, and put him onto his saddle.... barely on his lap... letting Sonic cry his heart out. Shadow was comforting Sonic in a soothing tone, trying to help him relax, and calm his nerves.

"Sonic look at me..."

"No..."

"Please..."

"Why, so you can... I don't know,.. blindfold me! Then take me home, and make sure that we're out of here within the next two hours or so..." He said not wanting to look at Shadow. "You know Sonic...the reason why I don't want you givr yourself heartbreak. I don't want you to feel helpless..." Shadow said, trying to help Sonic understand.

"But I understand why you want to face Scourge... it's 'cause you feel trapped don't you?"

"Yes... I feel like each new town I go to... ya know to get away from Scourge... Somehow he finds me... The last town I was in, he found me, tried to rape me... but somehow I escaped, how I escaped... I don't remember..."

Sonic finally looked up at his mate... but when he did he felt ashamed of himself... the reason why... he didn't know... he just felt it.

Suddenly a gun shot was heard. It came from the town! Shadow Looked up immediately. In the distance he saw mobians running for their lives! Sonic looked as well, when he saw those screaming women, and children... he felt like it was his falt. He had to do something, he just had to. He hopped off Shadow, and put himself on his saddle. "C'mon Shadow! Sonic yelled worryingly. He immediately kicked Bella, she took off at a full gallop... Shadow fallowed soon after. "Sonic! Here take this!" Shadow yelled So Sonic could hear, the hooves were so loud when they hit the ground, he tossed Sonic a little pistol, and some bullets. "What! Your giving me a GUN! Your crazy I don't know how to use a gun!" Sonic yelled over the thundering sound of hooves. He couldn't beleave it! Shadow just tossed him gun, and he didn't know how use it! What was Shadow thinking!

"Protect yourself Sonic you'll need it for when the time comes." He yelled.

Sonic haddened hoped that he wouldn't need it... They arrived at the town, and when they did Scourge was right there holding a dead body in his right hand, and a black gun in the other....

" So your back.... Well let's end this while we can, right Sonic...."
