   Chapter 12


Shadow was on his way. The expression on his face anger, thinking what the "monster" was doing to his mate... All he knew was that Scourge was going to pay... dearly... After nearly an hour of riding, Shadow and Bello made it to the biggest town in all of Mobius. Station Square...


Shadow pulled the reins and made Bello come to walk. All of the towns' people (from his point of view) looked rather happy, and cheerful... everyone had a smile on their face and was getting along. 'Maybe one of them knows where Scourge's hideout is..maybe I should ask him?' Shadow thought, looking at red echidna. He softly kicked his horse and Bello trot. As Shadow slowly rode up to the echidna... he noticed something about him... he was wearing an old western hat that hat gold round pins that had red stars on them, if Shadow was right, then that kept the brown ribbon pinned down. "Excuse me... but do you know of the hedgehog named Scourge?" Shadow asked, leaning down slightly. "Well, normally... when a person meets someone knew, they say 'hello' and state their name n' business... But I'm Knuckles.. What can I do ya for?" Knuckles said, turning around, tipping his hat showing respect towards the stranger, Shadow did the same. "Sorry.. but I'm in a hurry... I'm looking for certain someone...Or should Ah say two certain people... One of them ah'm going to kill...." Shadow said to knuckles giving him a look like "I don't have time for this" kind of face. "Now, please... do you know of a hedgehog named Scourge. He has my mate and Ah need to find him before he does something awful to mah mate! Now! Do you know of em' or not..." Shadow pleaded,  Shadow was desperate to find Scourge... well to make him pay of course.

"Scourge? Yeah... I know him... Well know of em'..." Knuckles said, adjusting his hat. "He's the hedgehog that is green right? Takes women and virgins...and you know rapes them?"

"Yes... and I fear that he has all ready raped my mate... Ah need to save him..." He said, looking heartbroken... To Shadow... to himself... he failed his mate,  by not protecting him. He felt ashamed of himself... he could not believe that him, the ultimate life form failed...

"Hey, you okay? Your tearin' up.... " Knuckles pointed out and showed that Shadow had shed some tears...

"Oh...sorry... Ah didn't know Ah was-" Shadow began, but was interrupted by Knuckles.

"No need to say sorry... But I do know where his hide out is.... " Knuckles stated.

Sonic began to eat the meal that Scourge had left out for him. It was actually pretty good! Sonic thought it was going to old and rotten kind of food. Boy was he wrong. Sonic drank the water in under two minutes. That is how thirsty he was. He felt refreshed after that cold drink. Now he had to find away to get out here. "C'mon think Sonic, think?! You need to find a way out of here..." Sonic said to himself. His eyes gazed at the window. Sonic thought for a moment. Sonic grabbed the fork that he had used during his meal. He had found the lock that Scourge had placed on the window. Sonic used the fork's teeth to try and pick the lock so far it was working, till Sonic herd foot steps! The where coming closer and closer to the door! He didn't know what to do! "Aww man! Ah'll...just ..just.." Sonic panicked. Then it hit him, pretending to sleep! Sonic quickly got back in bed and pulled the covers over his legs and laid his head on the pillow, and closed his eyes.

The door opened. It was one of Scourges' gang members. Blade. The one who tied him up and held him against his will. Sonic glared at him in secret under the covers. He could barely hold back the growl that wanted rise up and out of his throat. But some how he managed to keep it in. "Sonic? Are ya awake?" Blade asked, looking over the bed trying to see the hedgehog's face. But there was no response. So Blade left the room and locked the door. Sonic waited for about a 5 minutes to make sure the Blade wasn't by the door waiting for him to wake from his fake sleep or something like that. Sonic got up quickly and the it was time to try to pick the lock again. He had put his ear up to lock to see if he could hear any click noises from the lock... so far nothing... "Ugh... this is getting useless! Stupid fork!" Sonic whispered angrily, he slammed the on the window seal. He hoped that loud pounding noise didn't attract Blade... Boy that would bad... "I hope Shadow finds me soon... cause if he doesn't i'll never see him again...Ohh... why did I have to be born a uke... no good comes from it... I mean why me! Me, of all people." Sonic said to himself, bringing the covers closer to his face hoping no one would hear him sob...

Shadow and Knuckles where preparing for the two hour ride. Knuckles had just finished saddling up Fiona... Fiona was red just like Knuckles, but her mane and tail are extremely long... her tail touches the ground and her mane goes to her knees! Bello and Fiona became friendly with each other rather quickly... So now that both riders where saddled up and ready to go they were off to Scourge's hideout...Black Tower... it was the darkest building in the town... No one has ever dared to go that dreadful building. No one. Scourge and his "rough riders" have been the only ones who have ever been brave enough (or stupid enough) to enter. "People say that once you enter... your personality changes, the way act around people changes... your heart falls into darkness... and there no hope of returning to normal... You better hope Sonic remains the same.... if not he will no longer desire you or any of his family..." Knuckles stated, while riding on Fiona in a full gallop. Shadow was listening to what Knuckles had said. He to hoped that Sonic would remain the same loving hedgehog that he had come to love.

After an hour of riding, the boys decided it was time to rest and water the horses for about 20 minutes. During that time Shadow and Knuckles got to know about each other better. Apparently they had somethings in common... they both like to be competitive. Knuckles like to rough-house... for Shadow only if it's necessary. Say you get into a fight, That's when you rough house....

"Where did you get the suit? Did you recently purchase it?" Knuckles asked, looking Shadow form head to toe. Cause the suit that Shadow was wearing truly breath taking. Knuckles had to know where he had gotten it from! Now that he saw it, he wanted one as well. "A friend of Sonic's made it for me... Cause my old suit was well.... covered in blood... and was torn in several places." Shadow explained. "What do you mean it was 'covered in blood and torn '? Where you in a fight with Scourge or something?" Knuckles asked, rubbing the back of his head in discomfort.

"Actually, yes Ah was In a fight with him. Sadly, Ah lost to that...that... Low-life! He took Sonic away... And I wasn't able to save him.... I was so stupid to not to pay attention.... It's all mah fault." Shadow said looking down at his feet, thinking about the one he loved being tortured by that monster. "Let's get going... Sonic is waiting for me... We need get there quickly!" Shadow said, mounting his horse and Knuckles fallowing shortly after. "C'mon Shadow! Let's get Sonic back! Ya!" Knuckles yelled, kicking Fiona ribs hard, making her rear and storm off...

Both Shadow and Knuckles rode quickly down to Black Tower...neither of them knew what was waiting for them at the front gate.....
