A wicked grin plastered itself onto Gina's face. A silver kitchen knife gleamed in her hand as she stared straight at Greg. Refusing to take his eyes off the knife, Greg gave an uncomfortable smile. "What would you need the knife for" he asked, his voice slightly shaking.
"Why so scared, baby? You know I wouldn't do anything to hurt you. What reason would I have"?
Greg slid off the bed and slowly walked up to Gina. He slowly reached for her hands, but she oddly pulled back. Her grin was slowly fading, and Greg could tell there was a glimmer of sadness within her.
"Baby. What are you doing? Get back in the bed" she said sweetly. It was clear to Greg now, Gina wasn't okay. "Sweetheart what's wrong"? The crazed smile that was once the center of Greg's attention had long gone and had been replaced with a despondent, somber look. "Can you please just get back in the bed, Greg" Gina pleaded. Greg stepped closer towards her, with Gina refusing the advance by stepping back. "Gina, talk to me". She was on the verge of tears now; her desperate attempt at masking her emotions was clearly in vain.
Greg hated seeing his wife hurt. Nothing broke his heart more than seeing his wife force herself to hide her feelings from him.
"Baby" he pressed.
She stood before him, a dark pain in her eyes. He had never seen anything like it. He could tell she was sad, but he also see anger. A strong anger that could consume a man. It burned within her eyes and as he stared back at her, he racked his brain trying to figure out what could make her so itate. As soon as it hit him, Gina began to speak.
"Look at you. So pathetic". Her voice was laden with indignation and Greg could feel the words attacking him. "You lay in my bed, kiss my lips, wait for me to please you, only to leave this house and crave the same love and affection from another woman". Greg could've almost melted into the floor. He had been caught and now he had no choice but to confess. "Gina", he began. He stopped when he saw Gina's face.
The crazed smile had returned to her face, but it was more than a smile know; it conveyed a message. A message that was shared with the wild eyes and the feverish shaking. Greg took several steps back. He had never seen his wife like this. Yet, it appeared to be a normal look on her.
"I thought that maybe, just maybe. . . you and I could be a team. And oh we had the chance. We truly did".
Greg was now officially concerned. He had expected her to cry, to be angry. But her smile and those wild eyes said something different. It was a reaction Greg had never seen before, and reaction he truly feared.
"But then you squashed it. You broke our team up". Gina gave a hearty laugh, much to Greg's horror. "And I'm glad. Because now I don't have to hide anymore. Now I can be exactly who I was born to be. And I would feel no remorse for my actions. Because you deserve every single moment of pain I will inflict upon you". And with that, Gina raised the knife and lunged forward.
