Later that afternoon, Bill told me we had to go find supplies to build some form of shelter.
"Do you think this place even has storms? It looks perfect." I argued.
"I'd rather be safe than sorry." Bill said.
"Where are we going to get the supplies from?" I asked. "The trees have our food supply on them."
"Who said we need trees?" Bill smiled. "We're going old school, Shooting Star."
I raised an eyebrow. "Define your meaning of 'old school'."
"We either find a cave or dig a cave in that hill over there." Bill pointed to the large hill.
"Well I'm not leaving this spot just in case the portal comes back." I crossed my arms.
"Well, Shooting Star, I'm starting to believe that that portal can come from anywhere in this world." Bill explained.
"What makes you think that?" I asked.
"It's just an instinct." He replied.
"An instinct?" I smiled.
"I'm just saying we should explore this place more. Maybe there is some civilization or some better food or better shelter. Sooner or later we have to leave this spot. There's nothing here." Bill explained.
How can I argue with a demon? Demons are always right. Right? Well he's actually a human now, since his powers are gone for now. Although that whole "summoning" story was a little suspicious...
"Come on." Bill said. "We're exploring."
"But what if it does come, Bill?" I asked.
"What if it's somewhere else?" Bill stared into my eyes.
I hesitated and sighed. "Let's go."
We took our food supply and headed off. I hope this new place has a river. I could really use a bath.
An hour passed and we passed our trees with the fruit on it. We soon passed those too. We have never crossed the fruit trees before. Now we have no idea where we are going. The more I think about it, I'm glad I'm not by myself in this world. Having company keeps me sane.
"Watchya thinking about?" Bill broke my thinking.
"Stuff." I replied, forcing myself not to look at him.
We walked for an hour more and something caught my eye. It was....a river! And there was a cave right across from it! And there were fruit trees right by it!! How convenient!
"I think we found our home for a while." Bill smiled.
"The cave looks huge." I said, entering the cave. "Hmm. Not very long. But it can fit both of us in here at least. We can even stash our food in here."
Bill nodded. "This is a great campsite."
(Time skip to that night)
I watched Bill from the cave as he burned old bark to start a fire. It wasn't really for warmth, it was for light. The moon isn't very bright on this planet. Yet I like it because the temperature is comfortable.
Bill stepped inside the cave and sat next to me. "There's our light source."
My stomach started to feel nervous with butterflies. Every time I see Bill with me, I want to hold his hand or hug him. Maybe even kiss him. I don't know it's all so strange. Maybe it's this planet messing with my head.
"You sure have been thinking a lot today." Bill said. "Do you want to talk about it?"
I look into his eyes. "Um, I think I'm in love with you."
Bill just stood there. He wasn't in shock he wasn't amused he just stood there. Then came his dumb grin I love.
We both lean in and our lips romantically touch. Bill pulled me closer to me, kinda cradling me like a baby. I wrapped my arms around his neck, still kissing him. He felt warm and sweet. Not the cold, dark demon I knew.
Our lips pulled apart and Bill cradled me. I laid my head into his chest, drifting off into sleep. Bill leaned his back against the wall with my head still into his chest. He petted my hair before I drifted off into a wonderful slumber.
