Hero's hands traveled to my neck and grazed the bottom of my jaw. My heart raced as his face nuzzled into my neck, and he began leaving small kisses right where a rune of mine was. His soft lips slowly got rougher against my skin.
"ADDIE!"
I jumped away from Hero and looked up to see Fallon. My fingers traced my parabati rune on the side of my neck. Her finger was pointed out at me and she said:
"No." A simple threat that meant everything. She then turned to Hero. "If you're going to kiss her, kiss her somewhere else. When you kiss her on her parabati rune, I feel every bit and I'd rather not."
"Yes, ma'am," Hero blushed.
"Now if you don't mind," She turned back to me, "We need to train."
"But I'm in the middle of something," I complained.
"Yes," Fallon snarled, "and now you're in the middle of training."
She quite rudely grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards the training room. Fallon grumbled a few things under her breath that I didn't catch, but she it over it.
"Holland wants to talk to us." Fallon said as she pulled on her open fingered fighting gloves.
"Why?" I questioned as I stretched. "What does he want?"
"Mission maybe." She shrugged. "Said we have to be over there later today." She roller her shoulders.
"Hopefully. You haven't done anything to get us in trouble, have you?" I raise a suspicious eyebrow.
"Not that I can think of." She smiled sheepishly and raised her fists into a fighting position.
"Su-re." I rolled my eyes. I took a step and got into my own fight stance. I didn't make the first move and waited for the young apprentice to charge. I had a sneaking suspicion she was doing the same, and that if one if us didn't strike, we would be here for sometime. She wasn't going to throw the first punch, she was learning. I took a quick step and threw a left. Fallon's upper arms threw up deflecting the blow. A split second after her fist swung towards my stomach.
"Adeline, Fallon!" Hero ran between us. "Holland wants to see you, now," He glanced at me making my heart sing, but his eyes told another story. "It's urgent." Dropping our fists we ran off to find what was wrong.
"Holland?" Fallon asked, reaping on the thick oak door.
"Yes, come in girls." I pushed the door open and stepped inside the office.
"What's wrong?" Fallon question as she sat in one of the chairs.
"Something seems to be stirring at the New York Institute. I'm not sure what is going on, but I feel it in my gut and my gut is never wrong." He stood from his chair and wandered to the window. "I'm sending you two in to find out and confirm my suspicions." Holland didn't look away from the window as he talked.
"Yes sir, but may I ask why us? You have strong Shadowhunters that can do this." Fallon leaned forward.
"Yes, but they would suspect something is up. No, we need a small team that they would trust to dig out what's going on."
"Would you mind if I brought along Hero?" I couldn't help but ask. Holland heaved a heavy sigh, but then nodded.
"Fine, but no one else. Be ready to go through a portal in two hours." I was taken back.
"Two hours?" I nearly gasped. "Sit, I knew we would have to leave soon, but two hours?"
"Yes, you are dismissed."
