"I can't believe you manipulated one of the creatures you so deeply despised into loving you," I shrieked, hoping to cut his face with the diamond he wasted. "You know what? Fuck you!"

Before he or I could react to anything I just said, I threw Saltator straight into his chest. The end. That was it. The end of my love, the end of my hope, the end of my life.

I ran out of whatever building we were in and drew a glamour rune on my arm as I stormed out. My plans, however, were interrupted by a little darkness called shock induced unconsciousness.

When my eyes did flutter open, Magnus was waiting at my bedside along with a female warlock I did not recognise at all. She had blue skin like a baby boy's nursery and white hair second only to Einstein.

"Alec," Magnus called, "she's awake! This is Catarina, by the way. She was attempting to heal you because I can no longer do magic."

Alec soon came close to me and squeezed my hand to let me know he was there after swapping places with his adoring boyfriend. Catarina wrapped up whatever magic she was doing before leading Magnus out of what I assumed was the Institute's infirmary. When he was sure they were gone, Alec pulled out a little black box.

"I'm flattered, but I just got out of a relationship, literally last thing I remember. Is he really dead?" I asked.

"Yes. And this isn't for you. I'm going to propose to Magnus. We're going to host a dinner in a few days when everyone is mostly better, and hopefully I can gather up the courage to ask him then. If not, I'll just do it after everyone leaves. But, I need to know what you think before I can go through with it," Alec rambled.

"On a scale of I would kill him to I would die for him, how much do you love him?" I asked, trying and failing to sit up. He then aided me in sitting.

"I would most definately die without him. And then I might die a few more times because even my ghost would still be absolutely in love with him," Alec sincerely smiled.

"Do it. And don't let anyone stop you. Do Izzy or Jace know of your plans?" I questioned.

He nodded. "They've known since I first had the idea. Back when Hero proposed to you."

At the mention of his name, everything inside me broke once again. Tears fell before I could try to stop them. After a few moments, I was able to pull myself together.

"It's okay," Alec promised. "I won't let anything happen to you."

Loud. Almost too loud. You'd think that seven Shadowhunters, a vampire, and an ex-warlock would only create a small amount of noise pollution, but no. Magnus whipped out his gramaphone from the 1920's and was attepting to teach everyone to swing dance. I might have helped him if I didn't have a twisted ankle. Clary and Jace gave up a while ago with Simon and Izzy not far behind them. The only person absolutely determined to get it right was Sam, which was very amusing considering Fallon had zero interest. Alec surprisingly got the hang of swing very quickly, but that was most likely due to the fact that he lived with Magnus.

I felt a bit awkward, not only because I did not have a significant other, but also because I couldn't walk. Sighing, I limped a bit oddly to what I assumed was Alec and Magnus' room. I put Beauty and the Beast in the DVD player. It was a nice date with Prince Adam. Just as the end credits rolled across the screen, an extreme silence fell over the entire apartment. Sneakily, I poked my head out of the bedroom, then I crept into the living room like a ninja.

Alec and Magnus were in the middle of the room, slow dancing to an absolutely gorgeous classical piece that appeared to be coming from no where. The gramaphone had disappeared, and I didn't see a phone plugged in or a stereo. It took me a moment to find Jace and Clary sharing a piano bench where Jace was showing off his skills. Funny. I never noticed a piano in the Lightwood-Bane Apartment... Everyone else, as it seemed, had gone back to the Institute. Suddenly, Jace stopped playing before he and Clary said their goodbyes and left.

"So, should I leave?" I chuckled.

Before Magnus could protest, Alec said, "No. You can stay in the guest room. I know the Institute is a difficult place for you to be right now."

He was right. Every nook and crany of the abandoned church forced a pain that I couldn't control. Hero here, Fallon there, oh look! Two perfectly fine pairs of parabati living and breathing as if no one was dying inside. A single breath of Institute crushed every bone in my body.

"I wouldn't want to intrude. If its a bother, I can leave," I said, being sincere as possible. I truly didn't want to be an unwanted cockroach.

"Please stay," Magnus insisted, forcing a smile. I knew then that Alec hadn't asked the question yet, and I was being kept around as a reason to postpone it until morning. "I'm gonna make up the guest room really quickly."

The second he was gone, I fell on Alec and sighed dramatically enough to win a Tony.

"I know! I'm sorry! I'll do it in the morning. I promise," Alec swore.

"If you don't, I will personally fight you," I joked, making it seem as if I wasn't.

"Will you make us breakfast tomorrow to add to the affect?" Alec begged.

"What do you want?" I grudgingly agreed.

The salty, meaty scent of bacon swirled through the kitchen. I prayed that Magnus wouldn't wake up. Just as I whisked some eggs with onions and peppers , Alec popped into the kitchen with a half untied bowtie.

"Will you help me?" he innocently smiled. "Usually Magnus helps me with this sort of thing."

I smiled as I fixed his black bowtie, which went nicely with the light blue button down and dark jeans he wore. The Converse were a nice touch.

"Is Magnus awake?" I asked.

"No. I laid out an outfit for him and was waiting for the word from you to wake him up," Alec admitted.

"Picking clothes for Magnus? I'm shocked! I hope you did well," I chuckled. "And now would be perfect to wake him. The food will be ready in about fifteen minutes. Is that a good amount of time?"

"Yeah."

I set the eggs aside for a moment while I concentrated on the bacon and fried potatoes. I gave it a few minutes before scrambling the eggs and veggies. Eventually, everything was done cooking, so I put it all on plates and brought them out to the table where I miraculously found two incredibly well dressed men waiting for me. Magnus wore a black button down and jeans, and he lacked his usual eyeliner and glitter everywhere. In fact, his hair looked as if he'd just risen from bed. Don't get me wrong. He still looked like his amazingly gorgeous self. Alec did a nice job.

I waited in the kitchen, nibbling on some toast, and occasionally eavesdropping on their conversation. It wasn't until the stereotypical "Magnus, can I ask you something?" caught my ear. At that point, I clicked record on the camera that Alec made me hide. For my own girly reasons, I began paying full attention.

"To be quite honest," Alec began, "I've never been the most romantic guy around. But one day nearly two years ago I met this insanely charming warlock. If someone told me then that he was going to be the love of my life, I probably wouldn't have believed them. But here I am now, falling more in love with you than I ever thought possible. Magnus, will you marry me?"

"Of course!"

They kissed and I stopped paying attention. Actually, I snuck out of the apartment and towards the Institute. As much as I hated it, Fallon and I were leaving New York and had to borrow the portal.
