I looked at my room and said to myself that the time has finally arrived that I would leave this house or probably the last time of me staying in here because finally, I decided to go to college with my oh-so-beyond-sanity best friend, and here comes my dad who just stayed silently on the couch while holding his bottle of beer and pretending that he didn't see me standing behind the door while I grab my luggage.
"Bye dad. I think I'll go now." I sighed as he looked straight at me and nodded.
"Okay kiddo. Have fun in college." He smirked.
Well seriously he's not like other dad that would hug you tight or even just walk you outside the house showing how much he will miss you, or will be simply throwing wisdom words or advices on how to deal with college life but no, my dad is way too opposite to that crap.
As I drag my ass out of our old house I watched my best friend parked her car.
"You ready?" She said as she walked straight to me.
"Pretty much, are you?" I answered with an exciting tone.
"Yeah, baby! Can't wait to finally live with ya and kick some asses!" She helped me with my other luggages into the trunk.
As we drive along the street, flashbacks and memories opened up my mind. I told myself that once I leave this place, I'm considering myself free. I'm gonna miss this place, for sure. Especially my mom and I had a lot of awesome memories here.
Yes, you heard me right.
Only my mom.
She died when I was twelve. And she left me and my dad alone in this place with a sad smile on her face. She knew everything will be difficult for me and dad since we didn't get along much. But there was hope in her eyes that everything will be alright.
Soon.
My name is Anna Collins. Me and my best friend are moving to North Carolina to study college and probably get a job to pay my dues since we already established the fact that my dad doesn't have the plan on paying my tuition fees and he's not gonna support me. Great, isn't it?
"Hey sis, wanna grab some Chinese for dinner?" I asked.
"Yes, I'm actually starting to feel hungry now." She confessed. "And hey, when I was here to check on the apartment last weekend, I noticed this awesome place that we should probably check out!" She said with an amusing tone.
"Sounds great." I answered in a small voice.
The thing I love about Chrissy is we really understand each other and we got this 'same mind' set up in our brains.
"This place is the best! I haven't tried any Chinese food this good before!" Chrissy said to me with as she took another bite.
"Yes, I totally agree. We better eat here again." I smiled.
As we finally reached our apartment, Chrissy parked the car and killed the engine.
I stepped my right foot first on the front door and pulled out the keys that was given to me by Chrissy a few minutes ago, I first noticed the white walls and floral designs. We didn't have a big apartment, the couch, flat screen TV and center table was enough and amazing. It was a modern styled home and I'm very excited to see every thing around. I thanked Chrissy so much for this, because without her and her rich parents, we won't be able to live in this wonderful apartment and I'll end up working night shift just to earn more money to rent a place.
"What do you think?" Chrissy asked leaning on the wall and crossing her arms on her chest.
"I love it Chris! This is amazing. I can't believe I'll be living in this kind of house." The excitement in my voice was obvious.
"Of course, we're best friends! Best is for us!" She said with a smile on her face as she hugged me so tight.
I grabbed my luggages and headed straight to my room, as I unlocked the door and turn the lights on, my jaw dropped as I scanned my room and saw my bed with pink sheets matched with the lamp shade beside each corner of the bed.
"Hey, thanks for decorating my room. I totally love it!" I said while entering Chrissy's room and watched her unpacked her stuffs.
"I'm glad you love it! But I just ordered those furnitures and let my mom's personal designer organized your room. And yes shes pretty amazing, isn't she?" She said with a proud smile.
"Yeah, and could you please tell your parents that I'm totally grateful about all of this. And I can't wait to see them again?" I said while hugging my best friend with a big smile on my face.
The first night in our new apartment was amazing. After fixing our things we went out for breakfast into an old pancake house nearby. I noticed some beautiful street lights that made the place more elegant, a group of friends and couples laughing and giggling walked down the streets and it makes me wonder how it feels to have those kinds of people around, but suddenly pain reaches through my chest again when memories come to my mind. But since I'm in a new place I'm leaving all the crap behind.
"This is so good! People here really knows how to cook!" She said to me with a praising voice.
"I know right?" Grabbing my second piece of pancake with a fork.
"So Chris, I guess we should visit the university after this. You don't want to be enrolled late." I teased.
"Too late honey, I'm already enrolled...We're already enrolled." She snapped with a big smile.
"Wait what? Seriously!? Why didn't you tell me?" I said in disbelief.
"Yes, I was gonna surprise you about it. I told my parents about your situation with your dad and they weren't happy about it. They love you like their own daughter too Anna. And they want to help you. I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier." She answered smoothly and gave me a small smile.
"I know Chris, but its too much. They already let me live with you in this wonderful house and then this? Supporting me for college? I don't know what to say." I said with a pain in my voice.
"I had a feeling that your answer will be like that so I already readied myself. So how about this, you'll look for a job and save money for yourself and if you can already stand on your own and will be able to pay your dues then I could tell my parents about cutting off their support." She replied with a confident smile.
"Bright idea. I'll go with that plan. Thanks a lot sis. I owe you everything. I love you." I said with a pleasing voice and hugged her.
