The rain is pouring on the window pane as the silence in the room shattered in my ear and it started to annoy me. The machine that was standing beside the bed continues to beep its life and believe me, it was annoying either. Everything here is annoying. I'd definitely kick it off if I could just reach it. They moved me in a big room a few days ago. Flat screen TV hanged in front of my bed, sofa on the side and there was a pretty kitchen counter near the window, and it was really beautiful, I could say. It was one of the best they could offer. And what really amazes me was, my dad payed for the bills for this knowing that this couldn't be under health insurance. But then if I was going to be stuck in a hospital, I'd love to be in this kind of place.
But in just a few more hours they could discharge me and I can go home. Finally.
For now, I'd just stare at the ceiling and wait for something to happen, as if I care.
And also, I remember that Doctor Greene will be here before I could go, and once again I'd be able to see her intense blonde hair, smell her sophisticated perfume and even hearing the tapping of her heels. I don't know what with those shoes of her but its just too impossible not to notice it.
Great. Just great.
After a minute or so my dad appeared in my room without me noticing again, he packed some of my dirty clothes and put them inside the bag while chewing his gum and listening to his iPod. My dad is the only old man I know that listens to music like a teenage boy and yes, he has an iPod that has the complete album of his favorite singers and bands. And I'm pretty sure he is much more updated than I am. But c'mon I have tons of new songs that needs to be download once I'm done here.
Doctor Greene released me the following afternoon with a prescription of pain meds in case I got any headaches or if the pain became too much. I was thinking if they have pain killers for broken hearts, I'd probably drug myself if they have.
"For how long will you be staying here, dad?" I asked while he helped me get myself inside the passenger's seat.
"I don't mind staying for long. I wanna take care of you." He pinched my nose and hopped in the driver's seat and started the engine.
"Thanks dad." I said warmly.
He stopped and looked at me with a smile on his face. "You're always welcome honey." I touched his shoulder and smiled at him.
I've never felt so close to my dad. And just because he has another family, it made me sad for the fact that after all of this, he'll be gone and everything will be back to normal. The reality in where I have no parents, no mother, nor a father.
"Hey honey, your friend Chrissy called and she said that she has project to deal with and she'll just see you in the apartment tonight." My dad grabbed my bags as he followed me towards the door of the apartment.
"Okay, so its gonna be you and me for dinner." I teased.
"Well its a date." He laughed.
----
"How's your rib?"
I turned around and saw Riley standing with his navy blue shirt and dark jeans.
"Hey." I said. "Its getting better." Turning my head back on the book I was reading.
"Good to hear that." He smiled shyly. "What are you reading?" Suddenly changed the topic which surprised me.
"Just studying for finals." He continued to study me as he took a seat beside me.
It was a long awkward silence while he was just there sitting beside me with his fingers tapping on the table which is honestly distracting and I can't focus. And his presence, I can't deny that he's gorgeous. I don't even think thats legal.
