We had all stuffed our faces and were now done with eating. I felt like a fucking balloon. As Dan and Phil were talking, I stood up and grabbed my glass. It was empty but it's the thought that counts.
"Wednesday was an amazing day, full of happiness, love and laughter, especially when Phil tripped over the food table at the reception." I laughed. Dan did too, while Phil was trying to hold it back. He nudged at Dan playfully before I continued.
"May the 19th October be the best date on our calendars - oh, and 25th September - anyway, to Dan and Phil Howell-Lester!" I raised up my empty glass (it's the thought) as Dan and Phil raised theirs.
"To us." They said in unison. Their heads turned quickly and looked at each other.
"Okay seriously, we need to stop doing that." Dan murmured. Phil chuckled, his tongue sticking out slightly. I sat down and Phil stood up confidently.

"I'd like to also make a toast. Wednesday was the best day of my life. From where we met each other in person for the first time on that day 13 years prior to where we are now, I'm glad you were by my side the whole time, Dan. And to Dil, for being the final piece to our puzzle and making my life complete-"
"And mine." Dan interrupted. He looked up at Phil with his heart eyes. Phil rolled his eyes and continued.
"To Dan and Dil, the two most important people in my life." His smile grew more and more. So did Dan's. Dan and I raised our glasses and we all half shouted "cheers!" before Phil sat down.

I love my dads.

I was in the kitchen making some coffee. I was home alone as Dan and Phil had just left to get some petrol and some food as our cupboards were almost bare. I was staring up at the ceiling, when I shook my head and blinked a couple of times, snapping back to reality. Even the smallest things bring back bad memories.

I was just about to go back upstairs to my room when the doorbell rang. I stopped dead in my tracks. I slowly turned round and stared at the front door. I walked hesitantly over to it and placed my mug on the coffee table in the middle of the lounge and opened the door. There stood a woman with shoulder length chocolate brown hair which was straight and curled slightly at the ends and light hazel eyes. To her right stood a teenage girl. The teenage girl I saw the day before. She had shiny black hair that flowed naturally and a sort of side fringe and green-blue eyes. She smiled slightly and I smiled back. I had to make a good first impression.

"Hello, we're your new neighbours who moved in over the road yesterday." the older woman, who I assumed was the teenage girl's mum, stated. "I'm Lisa and this is my daughter Tabitha." Lisa gestured towards Tabitha. Tabitha awkwardly waved and smiled."
"I'm Dil. Uh, my dads aren't home at the moment but they were going to introduce themselves to you today anyway." I said, smirking slightly as I did so. Was that a good thing to do? I don't know.

"Dads? Oh, s-sorry, that came across as rude." Lisa said, looking and sounding embarrassed. So did Tabitha. I laughed it off.
"It's fine." I reassured them both.

All of a sudden the sound of a car driving over gravel appeared. All three of us looked over and saw Phil's car pulling up in the driveway.
"Speaking of dads, here they are." I joked. Tabitha giggled slightly but i didn't get a response from her mum. I wasn't interested in Lisa...

"Oh hi. You must be the new neighbours." Phil approached the front door where Lisa and Tabitha stood, with Dan trailing behind. "I'm Phil and this is Dan." Phil pointed at Dan who was now at his side.
"Hello." Dan said. I could hear the nerves in his voice. He still isn't over the whole 'socially awkward' thing.
"Hi. I'm Lisa and this is Tabitha." Lisa and Phil shook hands. Then she shook Dan's hand. They were talking away when Tabitha turned to me.

"So Dil, how long have you lived with Dan and Phil?" She asked. Her voice was calm and sweet. Her smile was amazing too.

Hold on. No, dil stop. Concentrate.

"I got adopted by them in 2016. June 11th to be exact. But we're not originally from here. We used to live in London until we moved to Willow Creek in 2018. They are amazing though." I stopped myself before I trailed off and waffled about irrelevant bungs. Tabitha smiled.
"That's cool." My mum and I moved here from Oasis Springs. New start. We've had some trouble in the last few months. We needed to get away."
'She hasn't had the best if pasts either, hopefully not as horrible as mine.' I thought.

We talked for a few minutes until her mum called her to say they had to go.
"Before I go, what's your phone member so we can text?" She asked, holding out her phone so I could enter my number. I did just that then handed her phone back.
"I'll text you later." She said, before turning on her heals and leaving alongside her mum. I might actually have a decent friend for once. Although, don't judge a book by it's cover. I learned that the hard way.
