Starbucks & An Enemy

I had no clue what the time was, but it didn't matter as I was texting Tabitha. We were talking about our interests, in which we had a lot in common. We listened to mostly the same bands, watched the same YouTubers and liked some of the same tv shows (bonus). She also loved coffee (double bonus.)

I looked at the time. 2:34am. It didn't matter as I was a night owl anyway. I definitely take after Dan and Phil. After a few minutes Tabitha ended our very lengthy conversation as she wanted to sleep. That was my que to go on twitter and Instagram until 4am. Once it hit that hour, my eyes started to get more heavy and my neck couldn't support my head for much longer. Then I eventually slid into darkness.

I slowly opened my eyes but I had to adjust to the beaming sunlight that flooded into my room. I rubbed my eyes and slowly sat up. I ruffled my hair and proceeded to head downstairs... After checking twitter.

I plodded downstairs to the smell of freshly made pancakes and wafts of chocolate syrup. My eyes lit up when I saw Dan in the kitchen making them. I rushed over to the breakfast bar like a five year old and sat down eagerly, greeted by Phil to my left.
"Someone's a bit hungry" Phil said, as he broke into a yawn halfway through.
"Only because it's pancakes." I replied. Phil chuckled and continued looking through his twitter. Dan turned around swiftly and placed a plate of 3 pancakes drenched in chocolate syrup in front of me, just how I like them.
"Thanks. I bet these are Delia Smith pancakes, just a guess though." A heavy hint of sarcasm was present in my voice. Dan laughed.
"Forever and always." He responded, straightening his back and standing there with pride.

When I finished my pancakes I returned upstairs to text Tabitha. She beat me to it. After a while she asked if we could go to the Starbucks that was just down the road. I agreed to go. I mean, who would turn down coffee? I jumped up and got ready.

A shower, spending too much time on my hair and deciding what to wear later, I was ready to get some coffee. I ran downstairs and told Dan and Phil where I was going. They were fine with it. Dan was in his browsing position so he was too busy on tumblr and Phil was writing down video ideas. After all these years they still did youtube, just rarely.

I walked out of the front door and as I turned round I saw Tabitha standing at the end of the garden path.
"Good timing." She said, her voice still sounded calm and sweet. I approached her until I was beside her.
"Okay, stay by my side, you don't want to get lost." I joked. She giggled and playfully punched my arm.
"Very funny. You can literally see the Starbucks logo from here." She replied, a smile beamed from her pale face. The short walk consisted of joking around and talking about our interests.

When we got to Starbucks it wasn't overly full, not surprising considering it was a Monday. Before you say anything else, we had the week off as it was the October half term (things are cleared up, continue). I opened the door and gestured Tabitha to go in first. She smiled and walked in.
"Thanks. Now give me a minute so I can decide what to have." She looked up at the menu. I knew what I was having straight away. It didn't take long for Tabitha to decide on what to get so we went up and ordered.
"Welcome to Starbucks, what would you like?" A tall man with dark brown hair with a quiff asked. I looked at Tabitha and gave her a look of offering her to order first. She understood my unspoken message and ordered.
"Can I have a Caffè Mocha and... And a triple chocolate muffin please." She said. The cashier placed the order.
"Anything else?"
"No thanks"
Tabitha payed for her stuff and then I ordered an espresso. We eventually got our drinks and sat at a table, where we talked and joked more.

All was going well. We were learning more about each other, which was great. Could it all go wrong? Of course.

I looked over at the doors and saw a figure enter. I recognised the long yellow dress and brown ponytail instantly. I rolled my eyes and slumped back in my chair and looked up at the ceiling.
"What's wrong?" Tabitha asked worryingly. I leaned in closer to her.
"The girl who just walked in, with the yellow dress," I whispered, pointing discreetly over at her. Tabitha glanced over her shoulder and looked back at me. She nodded, showing that she saw her.
"Well, she's my enemy. We have been since year 7, three long years full of hatred. Be aware of her, she'll drag you down to the ground and further." I warned. Tabitha nodded slightly and we both sat back.

We acted cool for a few minutes, hoping she wouldn't see us. Unfortunately that didn't last. I saw yellow lingering towards me. Tabitha gulped. I was prepared for what was to come.

"Oh, hi Dil," she voiced, clearly mocking me.
"What do you want Erica?" I asked, I couldn't be bothered to deal with her.
"Just seeing who your 'friend' is." Erica looked Tabitha up and down and smirked. "Why are you hanging out with this douchebag for? There are way better people around here emo girl - wait, emo gir- I see why now." Erica laughed. God her laugh pisses me off.
"Leave her alone, and just get on with your life and stop interfer-" she cut me off suddenly.
"Aw, is little Dil getting annoyed and feeling defenceless?"  Erica went into full sarcastic mode and fake pouted. "His dads can't help him now... And his real parents definitely can't, can they Dilly?" She was right up in my face. I had had enough of her shit.

I shot up, sending my chair flying back by about two feet. All eyes in the coffee shop turned to me and Erica. I stared at her smug little face, I really wanted to smack if off.
"Shut the fuck up alright? Stop being such a bitch just to get attention and feel good about yourself." I shouted in the middle of the shop. I couldn't stop now, I was on a roll.
"Stop bringing people down just so you feel like you've accomplished something. You're like a shit stain on mine and many other people's lives." I stepped in closer, so there was barely any room between us. I lowered my voice to almost a whisper, but it was still full of rage.
"And most importantly, don't bring my past, got it?" I harshly whispered through gritted teeth.

All of a sudden I felt a force smash against my stomach. I flew back and almost tripped up, but I was able to maintain my balance. I looked up and saw a bald guy with a face red with anger. I gulped.
"That was unacceptable behaviour on both of your parts" his voice was deep, making him sound even more vicious.
"I didn't do any-" Erica tried to intervene but got stopped.
"Shut up!" The man yelled. She did. "You two are banned from this place, if I see any of you two in here again, there's gonna be a lot more trouble. Understand?" We both nodded. He slowly walked away, his anger still seen across his face. The building was silent as Erica strutted out thinking she owned the place. I looked at Tabitha. She was putting her hoodie back on. We left.

"And that was Erica Pendleton." I announced, like a commentator on some sport programme. Tabitha smirked at the delivery of my comment.
"She is a massive bitch!" She said, her voice went more high pithed when she said 'bitch'. "Welcome to my world." I murmured. The rest of the walk home was silent. I spent that time reflecting on what had happened a few minutes prior... And other things.

When we reached my house, I turned on my heals to face Tabitha.
"Do you want to come round mine for a bit?" I asked. She smiled and nodded. I smirked and we walked down the garden path, where I was having trouble getting my house key from my pocket. Typical.
