Clary sat at the kitchen counter.
Her husband, Jace, had his back to her as he stood in front of the stove, cooking scrambled eggs and bacon.
Sheets of blank paper was sitting on the counter in front of Clary, next to a pencil. On top of the paper laid a black envelope.
"Just open it Clary," said Jace, as he tossed the eggs in the pan they were cooking in.
"But if I don't open it, then I won't get dragged into what ever it is that's going on."
Jace sighed as he turned around, and faced Clary. "If you don't open it, I will."
"Ugh," sighed Clary as she picked up the black envelope.
On the front, it said:
"To: Clary and Jace Herondale
From: Isabelle and Simon Lewis," in blood red ink.
Clary turned the envelope around, to see that the back was sealed with a symbol. The symbol of the Shadowhunters, thought Clary as she ripped open the black envelope.
Inside was a black paper, with words that were in blood red ink.
The paper said: "Dear Clary and Jace,
Our daughter, Grace is turning 18 in only two weeks! She will also be completing her training on her birthday! Josh is so jealous. Grace has already told us her birthday wish, and it's to have you all down here. In Alicante! Simon, Grace, Josh, and I hope that you will bring Emma and yourselves up here to visit... or even stay.
- Isabelle and Simon"

Clary set the letter down and rubbed the sides of her temples.
"What dose Izzy want," asked Jace.
"She wants us to visit," replied Clary in a breathy voice.
"In Alicante?"
"No. In Mexico," exclaimed Clary, both harshly and sarcastically.
Jace reached over and took his wife's hands.
"I think that my sarcasm has rubbed off on you," he joked softly.
"Emma doesn't know the truth Jace," Clary said suddenly.

Jace let go of Clary's hands, and gestured to his black, long-sleeve shirt. "Is that why we've been wearing long-sleeves? Even in the summer time!"

Clary smiled briefly, and looked up at Jace. "Don't you start with me," she warned.
"I'm just saying. Izzy and Simon told their kids. Grace is 16."
"Almost 18," corrected Clary.
"And Josh is only 6... or 8."
"9," corrected Clary.

"Whatever. The point is that they didn't have to hide who they are from their kids! I know you want a normal life... but Clary," Jace paused. "The world we belong in is calling us."
Clary sighed. "Your right. I'll... send a message to Izzy and tell her that we're coming..."
Jace walked over, next to Clary, kissed the top of her head, and whispered, "Once we get to Alicante, I'm burning all of my long-sleeve shirts," in Clary's ear. Then Jace walked off, smiling the smile that made Clary's heart skip-a-beat.
"You left the stove on," called Clary, as she stood and turned off the stove before following Jace upstairs.
