Olivia woke up on the familiar soft couch. Bright light shone through the cracks of the cabin walls. She decided it must be midday. Her stomach growled. She sat up. "God, perhaps this will be an adventure." She sighed. She had always dreamed of going out to sea. Unfortunately, this was not what she had in mind.
She opened up the cabin doors and was blinded by how bright it was. She blinked, and was soon accustomed.
"Hey! You look a thousand times better!" beamed John.
"I 'm hungry," Her stomach howled.
"Come on, let's get you some grub. Many of us are having lunch now anyways."
She nodded and followed him down a hatch in the floor. They crawled down into a cellar-type room. He handed her two biscuits and a bottle. Then, he furrowed his brow and took the bottle back.
"Better not give you rum for now. Eventually though, you may have to build up a tolerance, otherwise you'll get dehydrated out here."
Olivia nodded, and they both climbed back up onto the deck. He then led her to a large rusty table. Several men were all sitting down: some playing cards or dice, some ripping into their grub, others chugging a bottle of rum. However, they all stopped when John led her to the table.
"Lads, this is Princess Olivia. She is our guest."
She grimaced as they displayed their gross smiles."Princess, this is my crew. That's Krank," Krank, a broad, buff man nodded and grunted. "There's Mr. Chreeso." John swerved Olivia to face a really tall, slender man with a sharp nose. Olivia nodded at him and made a slight awkward wave.
Mr. Chreeso stood up and bowed extravagantly. "Princess, Olivia, welcome to our lovely home."
The other men yelled, and someone threw a biscuit at him.
"Over here is Mouse." explained John, pointing her towards a lanky lad playing chess.
"Don't call me Mouse!" He muttered.
"You can call him Mouse." John then pulled up a chair. She sat Olivia down, and pushed her in. "Boys, be nice."
The men laughed maliciously. "Yes, Captain," agreed Mouse sarcastically.
"Alright, I need to go do some things. I'll leave you all to converse." At that, John left, leaving Olivia with the crew.
Olivia sat there as the crew scooted in closer to her. She began to shrink in her chair, nibbling on her biscuits like a mouse.
Krank burped loudly, causing Olivia to jump, which then caused Krank to let out a barf-like laugh.
"Shut up, Krank!" reprimanded Mr. Chreeso harshly. Then he turned to the princess, and softened his facial expressions into a slightly repulsive smolder. "So princess, you like pirates?"
Olivia responded by looking down at her biscuit. Mr. Chreeso turned to his comrades and grinned proudly, raising his eyebrows. Krank snorted, "She doesn't like you, nimrod." The rest of the crew laughed at him.
Olivia took another nibble of her biscuit. She started to miss John of all people.
She noticed that Mouse and a small boy were the only ones not gawking at her like some freak show. They were both focused on their chess game. The small boy was thinking hard, his brow furrowed in concentration. Olivia noticed that he was in a tough spot, and close to losing. She studied the board, then, went, "Aha!" and moved one of his pieces. The small boy's mouth widened into a grin, and Mouse's eyes opened in shock. The other pirates roared. Olivia looked up gleefully and proudly.
