I looked at my closet helplessly and decided it was time to call up Max for some fashion advice. Pulling out my phone I dialed her number and listened to it ring. After the third ring, a tired voice answered laced with annoyance.
"Yeah." She snapped into the phone. I cleared my throat and thought of what to say.
"I don't have anything to wear and I was wondering if you wanted to go shopping with me?" I waited for the "no" and was shocked when I got a longer answer.
"Yes. Please. I need to get out of here before I combust!," I heard shuffling, a door close, and her car start, "Be there in five!" She hung up and I laughed at her eagerness. When Max arrived, she looked at my closet sadly and nodded before grabbing a mountain dew and getting into her car. I grabbed my boots and another mountain dew and climbed in as well. We entered the mall and headed for JCPenny. After an hour of searching and trying different dresses on, I had my top five out of about fifty. There was a deep red dress with no sleeves and a longer back than front, a beautiful blue with lace, see through details, and an open back, a black with floral decorations, a black with a red under layer, and a pretty purple. I was surprised at the purple and wouldn't have tried it on if Max hadn't forced me to. All were pretty and we decided to look at the racks one last time just in case. I was flipping through the clearance rack when a red lace caught my attention. I pulled out the pretty fabric and gasped. It was perfect. I called for Max and ran into the changing room. I slipped the soft fabric over my head and felt like a princess. It was snug and gorgeous. The lace mixed with the red gave my outfit a beautiful but rockish look. I knew this was the dress for me and stepped out of the changing room so Max could see. Her jaw dropped and her green eyes were filled with shock. She nodded and placed the rest of the dresses on a random rack. With a giggle I went beck in to get changed. After dresses we went and got my hair done and Max pulled me into a makeup store. I wasn't going to get my hair or makeup done but Max insisted. After all the dance stuff was ready we headed home to get dressed. The doorbell rang and I swiftly ran to the door to find a smiling Garret. He looked amazing. He wore a black suit with a black undershirt and a deep red bowtie. His hair was spiked in the front and his crystal blue eyes sparkled as he took in my sweatpants and t-shirt.
"Oh my gosh! It's 7:30!" I had been so busy that I hadn't noticed the time. I told Garret to go sit on the couch while I grabbed my phone and put my dress on. After running back into my room, I took off my sweatpants and ACDC shirt and slipped into my dress. I looked at myself in the mirror and applied my lipgloss. I slid on the leather jacket Max told me to wear and pulled my converse on. A quick spray of perfume and I was ready. I grabbed my phone and went into the living room. I noticed Garret was fiddling with a black leather box and he looked nervous. I walked into the room and he stood up quickly.
"Here," He thrust the box toward me and I took it," I saw this and thought of you." Inside the leather box was a beautiful black heart surrounded by silver designs. The silver chain was dainty and my heart swelled. I pulled it out of the box and looked at Garret sheepishly.
"Do you mind?" I asked, turning around. He took the necklace from me and placed it around my neck. When he clasped it his fingers brushed my skin and I shivered. I sighed and touched the heart. It felt right to wear it and fit snugly against my collarbone. I smiled at Garret and hugged him. His arms snaked around my waist and he whispered in my ear the most simplest compliment that made me feel faint.
"So beautiful." My heart raced and I couldn't keep the smile off my face. He laced his fingers with mine and led me out to his truck.
