I shrieked as my face collided with the lockers and my books went flying. I moaned as I layed sprawled on the floor of my school. The hall was filled with laughter and chatter as kids walked past not even bothering to help me up. One giggle in particular caught my attention and I glared at Max as she picked up my Geometry book.
" Here's your book butterfingers." She giggled again and handed me the heavy book. I rubbed my cheek and glared at her. I knew my cheek was going to bruise because it hurt like a bitch. Max laughed loudly and wiped at her eyes.
"I would say I'm sorry but that was just too funny!" She took a deep breath and tried to sober up but I could still see the laughter in her color changing eyes. Today they were a deep blue and were surrounded by an outline of eye liner. She had bright red lipstick on to bring attention to her lips and tight jeans to bring attention to her hips. This was Max for ya. She tried her best to look good and more days then not, it worked. Most of the guys in school could be caught looking in her direction no matter what she was doing and usually she was doing something funny or stupid, but she always had a smile on her face and a look in her eye that said she didn't give a crap as long as she was having fun. Max threw her arm around my shoulders and led me toward first period. I entered the Chemistry classroom and took my seat beside another of my besties, Kendall. She had her head buried in a Harry Potter book and looked so intent that I didn't want to bug her. Kendall was another pretty friend of mine. She had long mouse brown hair and glasses that sat gently on her nose. Her face was kind and she was always smiling. I looked forward and there sat Corin. Her dark brown hair was straightened, as usual, and she wore her usual country style. Corin was yet another bestie of mine and I opened my mouth to speak to her until I realized she too had her head buried in a book. I rolled my eyes and pulled out a sheet of paper. I started to doodle and let my mind drift elsewhere. After Chemistry was art, study hall, and Spanish. Next thing I knew it was lunch and my stomach was making all kinds of noises. I plopped down onto the bench our little group of friends now resided at. Pulling out my sandwich I started to eat when a pair of legs suddenly landed on my lap. My eyes jerked up to see a smug Max sitting next to me. She held up a note as if she was holding Season 11 of Supernatural and I didn't get a copy yet. I looked at her confused and opened my mouth to speak. She held up her finger and winked at me.
" I have a present for you," She said in a sing-song voice, " it's from you-know-who." My eyes widened as I snatched the note away from her. I opened it quickly and looked down at the slightly sloppy handwriting.Dear Alicia,
The weather is pretty nice today. Wow. Sorry. I am really bad at this. The reason I am writing this to you is because I was wondering if you would like to go to the new dance club in town with me tonight. I want to have a huge group go for my birthday but I want you to go as my date. I had Max give this note to you because I am too chicken to do it myself. Meet me in the band room at lunch and give me your answer. I'll be waiting.
Garret Johnson
P.s You look really pretty todayI blushed at the last part and looked down at my outfit. I was wearing my usual ACDC t-shirt and dark jeans. I had on my boots and my Supernatural bracelet. How could he think I looked pretty? Pretty was Max or Kendall or Corin... not me. I folded the note and stuck it in my back pocket.
"Are ya gonna go??" Max looked at me expectantly and nudged my shoulder. I shrugged and blushed before pushing my hair back from my face. Max shook her head and stood up abruptly. Grabbing one of my arms she hoisted me off the bench and dragged me toward the band room. We got closer and closer to the door and my heart began to race. Max got behind me and with a push, I was propelled through the door. In the center of the room stood Garret. He was wearing a blue plaid shirt and his usual boots and jeans. He was playing with his shirt nervously and his head shot up as he heard me fall through the doorway.
" I was starting to think you weren't going to show." Garret said as he walked toward me. I blushed and looked away before answering.
" Max didn't give me the note until a few seconds ago"
Garret bit his lip and looked at me questioningly.
"So what do you think? Do you wanna... ummm," He took a breath and licked his lips, "Do you wanna go to this dance with me? As your date?" I smiled up at him and shook my head. He smiled back and threw his arms around my waist. I tensed up not knowing what was happening and he jerked back quickly.
"Sorry. Got a little excited and it just kind of happened." I smiled again and shrugged before hugging him. He returned the gesture and I heard a loud woop from the hallway.
"I think Max is waiting for you." Garret chuckles as he walked toward the door. He held up his hand and waved to me before nodding at someone around the door, I'm guessing Max.
"I'll pick you up at 7:30. See you tonight!" Garret told me before disappearing down the hall. I sighed and walked out to where Max was sitting and smiling like the idiot she is.
