Chapter one
Flashback--->
"Help!" I screamed. I was trapped.
Today, of all days my clumsiness got to me.
I had been walking towards my house, then I had tripped and then tumbled into a pool of water.
Then, all of a sudden, I had started shifting, automatically, into all marine animals, even sirens or mermaids.
I had to get out.
I inched my way toward the end of the pool.
Inch.
By.
Inch.
It felt like eternity.
When I finally got out, I started shivering, really really bad.
But, before I could EVEN TRY to shift again, my concentration was broken by the sound of a screaming alarm.
"ALERT, ALERT. ALL CHAMELEONS REPORT TO THE SHELTER. OUR BELOVED AND BLESSED PLANET, ELEMAI, IS UNDER A SEVERE ATTACK."
I couldn't believe it.
I wrenched myself up, cursed the gods of Ellemai for their bad timing, and sprinted towards the shelter.
I ran, as fast as I could hoping my friends and dear family was alright and alive.
I ran even faster, when I heard loud, thumping footsteps just behind me.
I sighed in relief as I saw the shelter in sight, just blocks away.
Then, all of a sudden, I heard a scream, recognizing it as my own and that my "captor" had caught up with me, and I blacked out.
I woke up to a black, burning world.
I was lying down on the soft grass and I glanced around in fear.
No one was in sight. Just bodies.
I screamed in disbelief.
I jumped up and ran to my house.
Inside....i-inside was my d-dead family...
After I had seen that, I realized that there was no chance anyone else had made it out alive.
I walked slowly around my house, as if it was my last time here.
I grabbed a family and friends photo, a backpack, food, and other essentials.
After that, I left.
Then I truly started processing what had happened.
I started hysterically sobbing.
After my mental breakdown, I knew I had to leave and be strong.
I quickly went to a shop and "borrowed" a TAESV (time and eternal space vortex).
A TAESV (pronounced Tay-v) was a ship. It was modern and sleek. Just what I needed.
I grabbed the keys and ran.
And I've been running ever since.
