/Brendon's POV/

I pulled into my driveway, noticing an unfamiliar Honda in front of me. I got out, confused and made my way to the door. When I opened it, I immediately heard an unsettling voice.

"Son." my father called. I groaned and spun on my heels to face him.

"Dad. What are you doing here?" I asked emotionlessly. He's done enough damage to this family. He grinned,

"Well, that's no way to great your father, now is it?"

"It is when that father has done what you have." I stared at his cold eyes.

"Well, I just wanted you to meet someone. My new girlfriend." he said, gesturing to the door. A young girl walked out. I cringed at the sight of her.

"Hello Brendon dear." she cooed.

"Sarah." I gritted my teeth. My ex girlfriend is dating my father? That is disgusting on so many levels. I didn't think she would stoop that low, even for her. She smiled,

"Oh, Brenny. Don't you miss me?" She said, trying to seduce me.

"No. Not at all." I retorted, moving away from her. I'm not letting either of these bitches back into my life. Things are starting to get better, and they aren't going to ruin it for me.

I turned around before they could say anything and walked right out the door, slamming it behind me. I didn't hesitate to pull out my phone. I flipped it open and texted a guy I met during second period, Spencer, telling him I was coming over. I started my car and drove off.

/Mona's POV/

I was laying on my couch watching TV, when my phone goes off. I look over to see it, seeing its from Brendon. I eagerly read it.

Hey. I'm having some.... family issues. I'm staying at my friend Spencer's house right now if you need me. His address is 672 Corkvee Drive.

"Oh." I whisper. I hope everything is okay.

"What's wrong, Mona?" my mom calls. I forgot she was in the room.

"Oh, its just.. Brendon is having some family stuff going on." I mutter.

"Ah. Well, tell him he's always welcome here. You know, Mona. He's probably the first boyfriend I've liked of yours. You made a good decision this time." she smiled and kissed my head before walking upstairs. I listen as her footsteps create a pitter-patter up the stairs. I lay for many minutes until I fell asleep, snuggled into my couch cushions
