Silverfang followed Icetail outside into the training room uneasily. The serpent she had become friends with was being cared by Goldenscale, but Silverfang was still worrying about it and the prophecy. What was all this about? The rest of the trainees stared at her suspiciously.
Icetail cleared her throat and announced: "Silverfang will be joining us for our training lesson today. Flashscar, please help guide her through our daily training schedule and show her around." An electric dragon nodded and stepped forward, dipping her head and flashing a grin.
"Hey! Welcome to the Dragon Academy for Young and Talented Dragons. I'm Flashscar." Silverfang nodded, dipping her head back.
"I'm Silverfang. Nice to meet you."
"I'll be off. Silverfang, if there are any problems, just call." Silverfang nodded uneasily. Flashscar seemed nice, but she wasn't sure about the others.
After Icetail left, a gruff fire dragon snarled at her. "You better not embarrass our team, newbie." Flashscar rolled her eyes.
"Ignore Scorchtail." Scorchtail rounded on her and roared.
"What did you say?" He bared his fangs at Flashscar.
"I'm not afraid of you."Flashscar responded. Scorchtail was about to blast Flashscar with a blast of fire when Silverfang closed her eyes and roared. It echoed across the entire arena, shaking the ground. Scorchtail skidded a few feet away, eyes wide. One of his cronies grunted in his ear, a steel dragon with one horn jutting from his head. Scorchtail growled, glaring at Silverfang before scrambling to his feet and stalking off. Flashscar looked at Silverfang.
"What was that?" Silverfang shrugged.
Frowning, Flashscar shook her head and said, "Well, it doesn't matter anyway. We should hurry though. We have an Air Battle coming up, followed by a Tournament. Both will be between our group, the Legends, and the opposing group, the Skywalkers. We should hurry to the Armory; if we get their early, we'll be able to snatch some of the best armor and weapons available. Follow me!"
Flashscar flapped her wings and took off, spinning around only when she noticed that Silverfang didn't follow.
"What are you waiting for?" she asked. "Well... The problem is that I kinda damaged my wing." Silverfang responded."So, you might have to bear with me."
Flashscar chuckled. "There's nothing wrong with your wing." Silverfang stared, confused. She swung her head back to find that there was not a single scratch on her wing.
"Weird," she muttered under her breath as she took off after Flashscar. "I could've sworn there was a huge scar there..."
The Armory consisted of three places: the Armor Room, Weaponry, and Prepping Room. Silverfang and Flashscar were one of the first ones to get there. Flashscar pointed out the best armors to take before skipping directly over to the Prepping Room.
Flashscar said, "Weapons are useful in tournament battles because you can rely on a good sword or bow and arrows to finish your opponent. In an Air Battle, however, you need to be lightweight, fast, and well protected."
Flashscar helped Silverfang strap on her helmet, put on full-body armor, strap on training claws, wing covers, and finally tail blades.
Flashscar grinned. "Let the Air Battles begin!"
Upon entering the arena, Silverfang was amazed at the sheer size of it all. The arena had a huge field that stretched as far as the eye could see. A few dragons from the maintenance crew helped around the place, and two of them folded the glass window that shielded the arena from rough weather, Sunlight streamed in from the openings, lighting up the field. Silverfang saw many of the dragons she saw before in the training room. Another group of dragons strolled in from the opposite side, striding to the center of the field. Three dragons flew at the sides of the arena, making sure that nobody got severly injured. A referee would watch over the entire match.
"The Air Battle between the Legends and the Skywalkers has begun!"
Silverfang narrowed her eyes, folding her wings and shooting into the sky. A large dark-element dragon grinned, zeroing in on her for easy prey. Obviously, Silverfang wasn't going to go down so easily. She charged straight at him, delivering a claw punch to his jaw. The dragon growled and fused a shadow orb between his claws, throwing it at Silverfang. She ducked and bit his arm, which caused him to hiss in shock and pain. He swung his arm, flinging Silverfang off, but she spun and regained her balance in the air. The dark-type took this as a sign to use a dark pulse on her wing, but she spun and narrowly missed his attack. Silverfang grinned and charged her arm with electricity, throwing at punch and sending the dragon down. A huge bird of some sort grabbed him in its claws and carried him to a sanuctary. Silverfang swung around and found an ice-element dragon from her team struggling to fight two dragons at once, a water-element and a fire-element. Silverfang swooped down and used an orb of water on the fire-element, causing him to lose balance and fall. The bird snatched the fire-element and flew off. Suddenly, a loud creaking sound came from the bottom of the arena, and a group of well-armored dragons flew out in sychronized formation. The battle wasn't over yet. In fact, it was just beginning.
