Silverfang awoke to a navy-scaled dragon leaning over her. The dragon wore a large white lab coat, held a clipboard in one claw, and had thin glasses. A little name tag was clipped to the coat's breast pocket, but Silverfang was still too sleepy to read it.
"She's awake!" The dragon looked at Silverfang curiously. "Aren't you the new one?"
Startled, Silverfang nodded quickly. "Y-yeah. Why do you ask?"
The dragon shook her head before replying, "Just curious. I'm Dr. Amberclaw."
"I'm Silverfang."
"Oh, you don't need to tell me your name. Everyone knows you already."
Silverfang frowned. "What do you mean?"
"Well, it's kind of a long-" A dragon entered the room.
"Dr. Amberclaw. How is the patient?" The doctor turned around, nodding toward Silverfang.
"She's awake. How are you doing, Icetail?" Silverfang's eyes lit up. "Hey Icetail!"
Icetail entered the room, and sat down. "Hello, Silverfang."
Dr. Amberclaw looked up. "You two know each other?" Silverfang nodded. "Icetail introduced me to Goldenscale."
"Oh, Icetail! I wanted to ask you a question." Icetail turned toward Silverfang, head tilted. "Okay. What is it?" Silverfang fumbled for her TM, locating it on a medical table.
"Here. On my TechnoMonitor." Silverfang pressed the POWER button, and the TM booted up. The stats that were there before flashed onto the screen again:
SPECIES: Euranicus Potenuil
DRID: UNREGISTERED
ID#: 129482470
CONDITION: HEALTHY
INFO: CHOSEN ONE
Silverfang traced a circle around the monitor and showed it to Icetail. The First Class dragon frowned, showing the TM to Dr. Amberclaw.
"Of course!" The doctor said. "She's the Chosen One! That would explain the INFO stat and the SPECIES stat. And she's not registered into the DRID system yet, so she doesn't have a DRID. She is healthy, so the CONDITION stat is correct. She also recieved an ID# from Goldenscale. It all makes sense!" Icetail stared at Dr. Amberclaw funny before shrugging her shoulders at Silverfang.
"Well, we should probably get you to Goldenscale's room so he can register you to the DRID system. That'll grant you access to other places instead of just the basic battle arenas and the mess hall. Come on! Follow me."
Icetail turned and left the room, leaping into the air and soaring. Silverfang flapped her wings, gave herself a boost, and shot into the air after her.
Upon arriving at Goldenscale's den, Icetail told Silverfang, "Just answer Goldenscale's questions and everything will work out." Icetail lifted a foreclaw and knocked three times.
"Who is it?" A voice called from behind the door.
"First Class Member Icetail."
The voice replied shortly after, "Enter." Icetail pushed the door open to find Goldenscale feeding the little serpent. It inflated it's frill, coiling up before springing up and coiling on top of Silverfang's head. Silverfang looked up at the serpent, who flicked its tail at her claw.
"I'm going to name you... Serpentis." The serpent hissed before inflating his frill, gliding to the floor, and coiling up to sleep.
"Interesting..." Goldenscale said.
"What's so interesting?"
"Usually, Serpentis Alocinus are aggresive toward dragons. But you, Silverfang, you've changed the heart of this one. It is affectionate toward and treats dragons with respect. We've always had a problem befriending Serpentis Alocinus. This is the first time I've seen one that hasn't attacked or tried to attack anyone in my clan."
"Cool. But what does this have anything to do with Icetail bringing me here?" Silverfang asked, confused.
"Oh, we're going to inform you about everything we know. All the signs point to the fact that you, Silverfang, are the Chosen One."
"I know that you just came here and that you are trying to fit in, but this is important. You have no idea how much power you possess, Silverfang. The elements themselves strive to protect you. And that is why you'll be leading a quest to the Kingdom of Elementals."
"Where's that?"
Goldenscale continued talking, tapping a pad and pulling up a picture of the Kingdom of Elementals. "The Kingdom is located far from here. The reason you have to journey there is because the Dark One is planning to take over the kingdom. The condition of the Elemental Orbs are in critical danger. And you are the only one who can stop it."
Silverfang blinked, shocked. "W-wait, so you mean this all balances on what I do?" Goldenscale nodded. "Yes. You're the only one, Silverfang. The Chosen One."
"I can't do this on my own, can I?"
Goldenscale laughed. "Of course not! Icetail will accompany you, along with a few other dragons we need to decide."
Silverfang sighed, relieved, before asking, "Is there anything else I need to know?"
Goldenscale thought for a moment before answering, "Yes." The Leader turned to Icetail. "Bring her to the Oracle." Icetail nodded, turning around and heading out the door. Serpentis leaped up onto her head, flicking its tongue at Silverfang. Sighing, Silverfang leaped into the air, flying after Icetail.
Icetail folded her wings, cutting through the air and skidding on the ground before stuttering to a halt in front of a cave entrance. She looked up at Silverfang, who flapped her wings and landed on the ground after her.
"Let's go," Icetail said. Silverfang nodded. The terrain in front of the cave was muddy and rocky. Stones cut Silverfang's scales while she walked after Icetail. Branches stuck out of the mud, and Icetail grabbed one. She concentrated and a purple flame burned from the branch, making a torch for them to see. The dragons trudged in the mud, the torch in Icetail's tail.
Serpentis hissed, inflating his frill. "Shh..." Silverfang whispered quietly. Finally, Silverfang and Icetail reached the largest room in the cave, a large cavern with something cloaked in green mist at the far end. Once Silverfang got closer, she realized what it was and gasped in horror. It was a wall mount, bound to the cavern by centuries of plant growth. It was made of some kind of metal, red from rust. A dragon's head was on the mount. It was a green dragon with milky white eyes and three horns on its head.
When Silverfang approached it, Icetail whispered, "Well, don't just stand there! Show some respect!" Silverfang shrugged, dipping her head toward the statue. Its mouth dropped open, and a thick green mist flowed out of its jaws, surrounding Silverfang.
"Silverfang, how nice it is to meet you. Ah, I have long awaited the arrival of the Chosen One... No matter right now, for I must inform you about the quest. You must travel north, to the Kingdom of the Elementals. There, you will meet the Master, who will teach you how to tame your powers. Once she is finished, you shall fight the Evil One. Beware, however. The Evil One is expecting you to come. Be careful about who you trust and where you go. You will make sacrifices, but that is the price for saving this entire world. Be well, Silverfang. Be well..."
Silverfang awoke, her head jerking up. "Are you okay?" Icetail asked.
"Fine."
Icetail waved the torch toward the doorway. Silverfang nodded, and the older dragon began leaving the cavern. Silverfang stole one last glace at the Oracle. It seemed to be smiling.
"Thank you," Silverfang whispered. She turned and followed Icetail out of the cave.
