This chapter took a lot longer to write than I would've liked it to, but oh well. Also, we're about halfway through the story now! So woop! Anyways, I'll let you guys get to reading now.

"Why are we going out tonight? I didn't know that you guys had a job," I said as I pulled on my jacket. There was no need for my suit, seeing as I was a pencil pusher for as long as Ivy saw reasonable. And knowing Ivy, it was most likely going to be majorly unreasonable.

"It was a last minute thing," Selina replied. "We're taking my car."

"Okay, so this is new," I said, following her out of the apartment. I locked the door before hurrying to get to the elevator. "We never take your car."

"Yeah, well we don't exactly have time to catch a cab," she said, pressing the button for the parking structure. I stayed quiet at that, plugging in my headphones. We reached the assigned spot, climbing into the red convertible that Selina had bought a while ago. It was purchased under a fake name with all the correct, but still fake, documents. Personally, I wondered why she would go through all that trouble when she could buy from one of the black market dealers. Then again, that could result in more trouble than it was even worth. A lot of those guys were really shady, and that's saying something, considering my line of work/choice in recreational activities.

Considering that this 'mission' was unplanned, it was likely that I was either going to work doubly as hard to do whatever was needed, or they wouldn't even need me at all and I could work on some side projects. I wanted to do a sort of file on all the villains in Gotham, or any that were recorded across the country really, so that if needed we could have some info on them. I had started it with what information I gathered from the Arkham archives, but had only gotten through two or three people. I had heard stories of the other villains and had seen the newspaper articles from those cities, and they intrigued me. The villains from Metropolis, however, really pissed me off considering that they were across the bay and hell-bent on taking over the world from that city. We were lucky that our Gotham villains weren't like that, we just wanted the city.

"Come on, we're here," Selina said, nudging my shoulder. I nodded, pulling out my earbuds and shoving them in my pocket. I followed closely behind her as she grabbed her bag from the back and then made her way into the headquarters. She made a beeline for the elevator, passing by a slightly confused Harley.

"Kitty? What're you doing?" Harley asked as we darted past her.

"We've got a job," Selina said tersely.

"Gosh, for a second I could've sworn that you were Ivy talking to me," I said, crossing my arms over my chest. "What gives, Selina?"

"Ivy's not here, what job are you talking about?" Harley asked.

"It's more of an information sort of thing," Selina replied. "Just come with me in case I need back up."

"Really? I could've helped," I started.

"No, you're still on probation for what happened last time," she snapped. I was taken aback, Selina rarely snapped at me, that was normally Ivy's job. "Now, just go to the computers. Harley, we're leaving in ten."

"Whatever," I huffed, deciding to take the stairs instead of being stuck in an elevator with her for even a few minutes. What information did she need to gather that couldn't be shared with me? Her being so secretive with this made me more suspicious than I was of the 'mission' in the first place. And if she didn't want me to know what it was for, then why didn't she just leave me at the apartment? I shook my head, trying to clear out the intrusive thoughts. Selina had to have good reason for being secretive, it was most likely for my own good anyways. I just had to trust her on this one.
