I decided to go outside and hide from this kind of people. That was one of the main reasons why I wasn’t popular at school because I run away from them. They annoy me because they think there’re only boys, make up and clothes in this world, they don’t care about personality, dreams or even their story. I had a sip of my drink and sat in the stairs. I was contemplating the beach, palm trees; the ocean while the cold breeze of not so summer yet was hitting my skin. I then realized that the “freak” girl was sitting a few inches away from me, so I decided to walk towards her and sit besides her.
“Hey” I said.
“Hi” she wasn’t very excited but I completely understood.
“I’m so sorry for those girls”
“You don’t have to be, I don’t care what they say, really” she looked at me and smiled.
“I’m Leah” I said.
“I’m Bailey, nice to meet you. You’re Max cousin right?”
“Yeah” I smiled at her again and looked at the ocean.
“Can… can I ask you a question?” I said. I didn’t want to sound rude but curiosity was killing me.
“Yeah, what’s up?”
“Why… why are you here? I mean, I don’t want to sound rude but it’s like you’re different from the others. It’s not an insult, it’s a compliment, really.” She giggled and looked at me.
“My parents are super friends with Max’ mum and she invited them, so I’m here”
“Ahh, I see” I said.
“I used to be friends with them, but yeah…”
“What happened?”
“Nothing, things changed, we grew older and we walked in separate ways.”
“I’m sorry” I said again because honestly I have no idea what to say in these kind of situations.
“It’s alright. I prefer being the weird one than the plastic one” we both laughed and in that moment I saw a curly hair boy, tall, fit and tanned walking in the party. He greeted Max and some of his friends, I supposed, and then the plastic girls went towards him. Michelle, if that was her name was flirting with him hugging him and laughing at every single word he said. I was staring the complete scene from here when suddenly our eyes connected. He smiled at me and I quickly looked to the ocean feeling a little bit of shivers in my spine.
“You were staring at him?” Bailey asked me.
“Who?”
“The curly hair boy”
“Kind of” I said not wanting to admit that I was completely watching him.
“He’s Harry Styles but forget about him, he’s not good. He plays with every single girl. I mean, if he had a list of the amount of girls he’s been with it would fill an entire room. But the most funny thing is that Michelle is after him since forever but he rejected her so many times”
“Really?” I said giggling. She giggled along with me and kept on talking about him. I was looking at him frequently but not too much because I didn’t want him to notice it. He had some mysterious thing that was interesting and I couldn’t see what. But like I said before, I was so done with love right now. Apparently he was the womanizer of the town and I wasn’t going to be the next one, that was for sure.
