It was a peaceful night and the the temperature was mild. Yang had been wandering through the desolate forest for hours on end. Staying up late at parties was one thing, but this was a completely different subject. Even though her legs ached and her eyes were heavy, Yang pressed on in search of Kenzo. Even when Ozpin had offered to let her sleep at the camp whilst the Soldiers searched for him, Yang refused to stop her search for Lazarus.
"Come on..." She grumbled to herself, "He's gotta be here somewhere-"
Yang stopped dead in her tracks. Laying in front of her was a slumbering Lazarus. His wings were spread out on each side and his cape was crushed underneath his back. His broad chest raised up and down as he let out soft breaths through his partially-open mouth. Yang couldn't believe what she was seeing.
"It's him..." She whispered to herself.
Yang then clenched her fists as Lazarus suddenly twitched, breaking the tension. He then let out a yawn and then went back to sleep. Yang quietly sighed to herself as her heart slowed down.
"He looks so peaceful..." She mused.
As her eyes scanned the sleeping Lazarus, Yang let out a quiet yawn and felt her eyes almost close. Struggling to keep her eyes open, she soon found herself lying down next to him. At this point, Yang couldn't keep going anymore. She didn't care if Lazarus woke up at this point; she couldn't be bothered to chase him.
"Goodnight Kenzo-"
Yang gasped. Lazarus's right wing reached over to her arm and pulled her towards him. Shutting her eyes tight, Yang prepared for the ungodly roar, but no sound came. She opened her eyes and watched Lazarus as he shuffled towards her and fully wrapped his wing around her body. He then used his free wing to cover her body and shield her from the cold night air. Yang was just beginning to comprehend what had just happened, but then she felt the warmth.
"Oh God...Feels so good..."
Yang's whole body went loose as she accepted the comfort from the warmth emitting from Lazarus's body. It was better than the feeling of being under warm covers in the middle of winter. She nestled close to him and shivered as the warmth got slightly hotter. Her body connected with his, Yang had never felt so relaxed in her entire life. She thought that getting back to the camp would be an incredible feeling, but this was something else entirely.
Yang thought about it for a moment, then turned her head and whispered to Lazarus;
"Hey...Can you hear me?"
Lazarus didn't move.
"I just want to let you know that...I love you too..."
Once again, he showed no reaction. Yang continued:
"Ever since I first met you, I always knew you were special. I could tell that you had been through a pretty rough time and I knew that you needed help. Whenever you were down on yourself because weren't perfect, I always had to fight the urge to slap you and tell you that nobody is perfect..."
Yang closed her eyes for a moment, took in a deep breath and continued:
"I hated seeing you being upset; it really broke my heart. You never deserved what happened to you, but now that this has happened, I really don't know what to do..."
Lazarus let out a grunt and slightly tightened his wings around Yang.
"I'm going to fix this...I'm not going to give up on you..."
Yang's voice trailed off. She felt silly talking to an unconscious man who couldn't talk, but she knew that she had to continue.
"Somehow, I'll find a way to get you back to normal. I don't have a clue how, but I refuse to let you live like this. Goodnight Kenzo...I love you..."
Yang closed her eyes and gave in to sleep-deprivation.

"He's not a faunus..."
"Huh...I could've sworn he was..."
"What do you want me to do?"
"Simple... Send out your soldiers to knock him out and bring him to your lair..."
"No..."
"What do you mean no?"
"It's too dangerous...I'm not gonna risk the lives of some subordinates, expendable or not!"
"Listen Roman! You're working for me so do what I say! Or else..."
"..."
"Well?"
"Fine..."
"That's the spirit..."

At the crack of dawn, Lazarus awoke. Looking around him, he determined that there were no Grimm in the surrounding area, but he could sense that he wasn't alone. Lazarus began to get up when he felt something tug on his wings. He looked down and his eyes widened: it was the blonde haired girl. Bolting upright, he stared down at the girl lying next to him, wrapped up in his wings. He had no idea how she had gotten there, but he didn't want to stay for long.
Unraveling his wings and shaking off the dirt, he got to his feet and looked down at the girl once more. Lazarus couldn't believe that she had managed to find her, but he couldn't remember seeing her from the other night. Eventually, his eyes looked away from her as he walked off into the forest.
As he walked, Lazarus began to feel weak. His chest began to ache as his heart began to slow down. His arms hung loosely by his sides and his legs began to shake with each step he took. Kenzo let out a pained grunt as his ears started to ring loudly. His head hung loosely and his brain felt as if it was on fire. He slowly began to loose his vision and clutched at his head as the world around him began to twist and deform.
Coming to a stop, Lazarus then felt a sharp pain in his right arm. Feeling the pained area, Lazarus's hands came across a sharp object embedded into his flesh. Yanking out the metal object with a splash of blood, Lazarus examined it through his blurry eyes. To his confusion, he saw what looked like a bullet with feathers sticking out the back of it...
He collapsed before he could comprehend what was happening...
When Yang awoke, Lazarus was gone...
