(Kyra's P.O.V.)
I looked back and spotted Nicolette Kohn running into the sanctuary. "THEY'RE COMING!" she said. "THEY'RE COMING!" ...What did that mean? Sure she's always been sort of a prankster, but to pull that stunt in the middle of church? Whatever it was, it must have been real.
(Nicolette's P.O.V.)
After I fought off one more, I ran into the sanctuary and tried to warn everyone. I was so terrified, I couldn't utter more than, "THEY'RE COMING!" "Who's coming!?" a girl named Britt had asked. Jessi, who was always making a joke out of everything, said, "Hey Paul Revere, where are the British?" I couldn't say anything more before everything faded to black.
(Jessica's P.O.V.)
Was this girl really trying to interrupt church with another one of her shenanigans? Nope. As soon as I thought about the question, some kind of homely creature with peeling skin, barely resembling a human, chomped her entire right shoulder off. I watched her eyes fill with a dull look of death and she dropped to the floor.
Was this seriously happening? I couldn't believe my eyes. Sure, I'd seen plenty of movies about these types of things, but I never thought it would happen in real life.
(Kyra's P.O.V.)
I pulled Kyleigh up to my hip in order to keep her in my grip, then escaped the sanctuary through the back door that led to the hallway. Following behind me was Jessica, Anna and Charity who were other best friends of mine, Aurora, and Britt. They followed me into the fellowship hall, which was zombie-proof because apparently they weren't smart enough to get into the double doors. The double doors weren't side by side, but instead they were top and bottom, like a fridge door with a freezer door above it.
There was already a small group of the congregation in there. After the door shut behind us I looked to make sure that everybody who had followed me was there. Jessica? Check. Brittney? Check. Anna? Check. Kyleigh? Check. Aurora? Nein. She wasn't there.
"Aurora?" I said. I started hyperventilating. No. No, I can't lose my best friend. I just can't, I thought. I lurched toward the door, but Anna, Jessica, Charity, and Brittney quickly gripped my shirt. "No, Kyra! You can't! You'll be killed for sure!" they all shouted, but I wasn't listening. I tried to squirm out of their tight holds, but they wouldn't let go. My last resort was to take off my top, leaving me in only a tanktop to fight off the zombies and find my best friend. I pushed the door open and ventured out to go find Aurora.
