The two woke up. They’re whole bodies felt stiff and their clothes were still damp from the day before. They’d slept right from the event, through te night right up to noon. It had stopped raining, but the ground was still moist and the grass was painted with dew. The sun was out and the sky was a bright blue. After checking there backpacks for all there stuff they sat down by the river and had the bread and berries they had packed.
Sticking together they walked through the forest trying to find any survivors. Besides themselves, they found none. In fact they couldn’t find a single body anywhere, when they both remembered falling over a dead body while running towards the hole. Perhaps they were crazy, but, then how would you explain where they were. Neither one knew the where they were so they explored for hours, gaining their barrens and trying to find out where they might be. They passed different trees and streams, flowers and berries , animals and rocks, and even different types of driftwoods.
The two travelers very wearry from all the drama finally stumbled upon a house in a clearing. It was no Hansel and Gretel, candy house. This home almost looked magical. As soon as that thought crossed there minds they both wondered if this house belonged to Jealousy and , began to study the house from a different point of view. It had six square shaped windows and was protected by tree branches, covered in moss. The hose was made of wood, with a spiral stair case and a hidden garden in the back. Her garden was filled with strange looking flowers. Ones with purple and yellow spots, with red and orange strips and blue and green blends but, there weren’t as many flowers as there were vines. Thorny, dull, viscous looking things, cris crossing everywhere. There were even Venus fly traps! The children had never seen anything like it before. There in the middle of the garden light shown proudly n an odd little flower that was purple and white. Part of it though seemed to have been ripped off leaving the wilting beauty lop sided. “Must have been an animal “ thought Maple” “pity, those flowers are rare.” Although Jack didn’t know what it was, Maple recognized it immediately from her school lessons. It was also her favourite flower. There was a crack of a twig behind them and they spun around, only to be peering into the face of a sort of off purple, coloured fairy.
The children both stumbled back. “ Who are you?” splat Jealousy. “I’m Maple, and this is my little brother, Jack....” Jealousy was about to ask what they wanted before Jack shouted “ were here to talk to you about the key” All of a sudden, Jealousy felt a surge of joy. ‘ I can finally get rid of the horrid thing” she thought. “ come inside” she said talking hold of their hands . She led them up the spiral staircase and into the house, shutting the door behind them, locking it.
Maple and Jack held hands. The inside was nicer then they thought. Jealousy herself was nicer then they’d thought. Judging by what Centra had said she was a monster, and evil thing, a demon but, she wasn’t . She showed them a seat and gave them some fresh blackberries and raspberries. The inside was actually very cozy. There were three floors. A fire was burning in a fireplace, on the main floor, next to a window on the left side of the room. On the right there were stairs leading up to the second floor where she slept on that floor. There was a pink flour shaped reading lamp on a desk with a chair. On the left side by another window, was her bed, made of sticks and blankets of moss. On the right side of the room, was her kitchen. Leading from her kitchen was another staircase, up to the roof. The house was certainly not what they were expecting.
After Jealousy gave Maple and Jack the grand tour they all sat up on the roof exchanging information and her life story. Then they understood why she had attacked the guards. Maple took pity on her. Jack just cleared his throat to continue. After, they were all up to date. “ so it’s the key your needing. Well I have it here with me and you are free to take it. I cannot live another minute with it. Pease, I wish you luck on your quest. The sooner it’s destroyed the sooner I can go on living my life.”Jealousy said. She took it from around her neck. She glowed for a moment as she rose high in the air. The key fell to the ground and so did she. Jealousy grabbed her side trying to get her breath back. A faint smile crossed her lips. “ I’ll be ok” a weak Jealousy reassured. ‘ I just need to rest, because the key has been feeding off my power.” Before the two left they told Jealousy that they would tell Centra to stop trying to kill her now that she was happy and would not try to hurt him.
Maple put the key around her own neck but nothing happened for she was a Woodmer. Jealousy had apologised about killing all the men and in exchange she called her friend who had agreed to protect them instead, and be there guide on there quest through the fairy realm.
Maple turned back to wave to Jealousy still lying weak on the roof. Jealousy waved back the best she could as the two walked off to the destination Jealousy had told them to go to , to meet there guide. “ Step 1. Complete!” sang Jack in his head as he took Maples hand again.
