The evening was going splendid. Royals showed up as suspected and the music was played perfectly. The grand ballroom in the castle of Obradome sponsored a great ball and now dancers flooded the floor. They swooped and swayed, waltzed and tangos, spun and dipped all around the clock. Centra had worn his finest and had given one of his favourite pieces for Mr. Woodmer to wear but he rested frowning. Lauren just couldn’t stop thinking about her children.
“ They could be lost out there with no food, crying for us. They could be in danger or worse of all dead.” she kept nattering to Centra.
“Madame” he would always reply back “ now is not the time to worry there is too much to do , too much work at hand. Enjoy now worry tonight alone in your room” He felt like saying “ Worry alone in your room where no one can hear you” but he refrained from dong so.
After dancing the hundreds of guests filled all the seats and waited to be fed. The food was amazing. Roasted porc, and stuffed turkey, wheat and corn with beans and carrots. Gravy ran across their plates packed full of fat and calories. The table at this time grew loud as people talked and people talked louder to be heard over others. They clapped and cheered when dessert rolled around. Cream and berries. Black berries, blue berries, raspberries, strawberries, and bumple berries Obradome’s finest. Only the rich could afford them. They are purple and spiked in the field but after hours of carefully peeling off the spiky skin hey are green and soft and buttery like papaia on the inside.
When dinner had ended the entertainment rushed to please them. Clown and jugglers, creatures from around the world were walked in to be looked at. The rare “Sether”, the five horned snake, and “Cocapoo” a peacock with fangs, puffy fur and feathers with a lump on it’s head that opened up in bright red feathers when it got scared. Now it bloomed with radiant red as it was paraded around the room as it was too dangerous for the people to touch. The clock ticked on and by 10 o’clock most had left but it was the un lucky ones who hadn’t left that were by standards.
All was going good when a masked woman showed up. No one knew where she came from but all the men were dragged like magnets to her. She slunk around the room until a few worried and disturbed guest told Centra. He went up to her and asked who she was. Upon the lady not responding she batted her eyes at him and held him close to dance. Fast and faster and faster still they pranced around the dance floor picking up speed still as they went. Centra was surprised the lady was not worried about her dress like all the others until “ RI-I-I-IP ” her dress tore at the back and neatly tucked wings flapped out. The room went silent as Centra pushed her away. The lady pulled her hat over her eyes, blushing but Centra already knew who she was.
“ Why did you come here” he whispered to her.
No one in the room heard him but the fairy. Guards came running. Quicker then ever her hands were behind her back and the hat was removed to reveal a purple fairy, named Jealousy. She was led away down the hall and out of sight in silence. Centra tried desperately to get the guest back to dancing but they were still in shock and requested men to help them into there carriage. Soon they were all gone and the grand party was over.
