A/N I dedicate this chapter to impala32 for being my first fan and sending me a lovely message. Thank you love! Sorry this chapter's more of a filler, and a lot of dialogue. Just letting you get to know Rose's friends a bit better. Remember to comment, vote, and tell others if you enjoy the story!
Chapter 7: How Many Ways Can I Say Sex?
"Should we have gone after her?"
September looks over at Winter, who's shaking slightly. Possibly, from worrying so much or, just being cold, and since Rose's house feels like the Arctic right now, it may just be a bit of both. Her thin legs look like wiggly spaghetti, which nearly causes September to laugh, but she easily holds back, because it reminds September of all of the struggles Winter has gone through with anorexia. The fact that she's still so skinny is just a painful reminder that she's still not entirely well, and there's nothing the girls can do to help her.
"She's fine," Minnette assures Winter while she rubs her thumb over her pale shoulder to comfort her.
"You think so?"
"Of course," Minnette replies with a goofy grin. "Come on, Winny! This is Rose we're talking about, she can handle Skye. They're probably having a pillow fight right now." Minnette lifts an accent pillow from the couch and tosses it at Winter's head.
"Still Minny, it's been hours and she won't answer our texts!" Winter gets serious again. She frowns. "What if she's dead or something?"
September can't hold back her laughter this time. "Skye and Rose hate each other, but neither of them would murder the other. Now you're just being ridiculous Win."
"I can't help it. You guys are my best friends. I worry about you." Winter sighs.
September stands up and gets her skateboard from the door, before skating it into the kitchen, while Minnette and Winter continue to talk.
"Stop riding your skateboard inside! You know Rose's dad hates it when you do that. If you break something again I'm not cleaning it up for you like last time!" Minnette shouts in a motherly scolding manner.
"Last time I was in the hospital getting stitches! That's the only reason why you cleaned up!" September ignores their complaints as she begins to whisper to herself, "Food, food, food!"
Her hands open cabinets, and drawers, and the fridge, greedily scanning the food. She pulls a can of root beer from the fridge and a box of take-out pizza from a few nights ago.
"Minny, is this pizza still good?" September shouts loud enough for them to hear her, over the television.
"Tema, stop eating all of their food, her dad just went grocery shopping today," Minnette scolds me like a child. "If you want food, just eat the snacks Rose brought."
September rolls her eyes, though Minnette can't see her. "Yeah, no, I want legitimate food. And, Oisin grocery shopping means there's actually good food for once. Besides, I'm eating left-overs, not the groceries. Quit complaining!"
"Fine, but if he comes home and asks where his pizza is, I'm not going to be the one who tells him you engulfed the whole thing, you little pig," Minnette replies smugly.
September snorts a few times purposefully.
"Guys, quit fighting!" Winter interrupts the little squabble. "We should do something."
September skates back into the living room with a slice of cold meatball pizza in her mouth, the box under her arm, and a soda wrapped loosely in her other hand.
