In which they live in a world where your eye colour determines your power over the elements; water and ice, fire, nature, earth and wind.
When you turn sixteen your eye colour changes from grey to either blue, red, green, or silver.

~

Phil's parents thought that him being born with his eyes blue meant he got his power prematurely; they were sure they'd heard other stories alike.

But when Phil turned sixteen, Mister and Mrs. Lester were extremely concerned when speckles of green and gold, along with streaks of red and even dots of brown and silver around his iris appeared. They took their son to numerous doctors, hoping for an answer to why it was happening, but the best answer they got was "I don't know, he might have multiple powers."

Phil's parents didn't know what to do, because he wasn't normal, but they loved him all the same.

School was difficult for Phil.
At first he went to school with his multicolour eyes, thinking he'd be treated normally.
But no, as soon as someone noticed his freakish feature he was picked on for being different.
You'd think he'd be really popular for having all the element powers, wouldn't you?
Funny that.
Thus, he moved from Rawtenstall to Wokingham with his parents and brother.
None of them had anything or anyone important in Rawtenstall, anyway.
Phil dyed his hair from ginger to brown and started to wear blue contacts.
Maybe, just maybe in this new town, he could be normal.
~

Phil got a day off every month where he was allowed to stay home and just play with his powers.
His parents thought it was only fair, after all.
Not being able to be yourself is difficult sometimes.
Today was one of those days.
He say in the middle his garden, creating whirlwinds from the tips of his fingers and sending streaky red flames through it, making it look like a tornado of fire.
He lifted rocks with his mind and controlled where they went with his fingers, sending through bushes and throwing them at targets.
Phil loved to collect water or residue from grass and create ice sculptures; today he crafted an accurate figurine of his boyfriend, Dan.
Dan had ordinary brown eyes, but he was very powerful. Je could punch the earth and send trees and bushes flying. He was incredible in Phil's multicoloured eyes.

Phil laughed and smiled as he continued with his actions.
He felt safe. He could be himself without hesitation and have no fear of being caught, because it was a school day, and the neighbours were working.
That changed though.

"Phil!"
The familiar voice of Dan filled Phil's ears.
Crap.

He dropped the rock midair he was aiming at a fly and gasped.
"D-dan! What are you doing here? How did you get into my house?" Phil stuttered.

"You left your front door unlocked, and you hadn't told anyone why you weren't at school. I thought you dyed, you spork!" Dan chuckled. Then he realised something; Phil had a rock in the air. How?

"Phil, how were you controlling that rock....?" Dan asked slowly. This was put normal.
"B-bear, p-please leave. You.. You can't be here right now." Phil whimpered.
"Babe, what the fuck is going on?"
The brown eyed boy ran to his boyfriend and clutched his face, as Phil struggled to get out of his grip.
"Phil, look me in the eyes."
"No!"
He used his wind element to knock Dan away from him and started running out of his backyard and into the woods.

Dan had looked all over for his boyfriend, looking in trees and shouting his name over and over again.
When he was about to turn back he heard faint screams and sobs from his left.
Dan immediately started running in the direction of the noise, hoping it was Phil.

What came into his vision was sort of a surprise.
Phil was sitting in the middle of a wide ring of fire, repeatedly punching the ground over and over again, sending grass and dirt and rocks flying in every direction.

"How the hell-?" Dan muttered, "Phil! What the ever loving fuck is going on?!"

And in a swipe of his hand, the ring of fire had disappeared and Phil was curled up in a ball, sobbing loudly.

"Phil!"

The small frame stopped making noise and sat rigid. Not moving a muscle.
Dan ran to Phil and scooped him up in his arms.
"Phil, what's happening?"

All he did was look at Dan.
And oh.
His eyes were not just blue.
They were every possible colour.
"Phil.. Why- why are you eyes...?"
Phil sighed.
He uncurled himself and stood up from Dan's lap, instead standing a couple metres away from him.
At first, he manipulated the wind so all loose items on the ground (i.e, bits of ground Phil had been beating up earlier) and twisting them around Dan and himself, isolating the two in a whirlwind of rocks and dirt.
He then flung them in a circular motion at the surrounding trees.
Next he lifted three pieces of their current surface from the ground and hit them in the exact middle of the closest tree.
He then flicked on a flame at his right index finger and water droplets at his left, flinging them around himself, making them bigger and bigger before clapping them together above his head, eliciting a large amount of smoke.

Phil panted as he fell to the ground.
What was Dan going to think of him now?

He was taken aback when he heard a squeal.
"That.. Was.. So.. Cool!" Dan rushed to Phil's side and turned his face to his own.

"You.. You don't, hate me?" Phil stammers out.
Dan gave him a perplexed look.
"Why is God's name would I hate you, Phil?"
The brown haired boy flung his arms around his boyfriend and hugged him tight.

"I, uh- back, in.. In Rawtenstall, where I um, came from, everyone- everyone hated ,s for being... Different."
Dan smashed his lips to Phil's.
"Silly boy. I couldn't hate you. In fact, I love you even more. my boyfriend is a badass."
They both snickered.
"Love you, bear."
"And I love you, lion."
