Chapter 2

Harry's P.O.V.

I never would've thought my life would become this empty. Days pass in a blur, blending with the next. Before I knew it, the weeks flew by and I would be lying if I didn't think about just giving up completely.

I was sitting alone in the flat, when I heard a knock on the door. I went to answer it and to no surprise it was Liam, Niall, and Zayn. They have been visiting me a lot lately as they have noticed my change in behavior.

"FOOD!" Niall screamed as he barreled into the kitchen.

"Oh, hey there Harry. I didn't see you there." Niall said, as he finally acknowledged my presence, with his mouth full of leftover pizza.

I gave him a fake smile as I got up to go sit on the couch with Liam and Zayn.

"So....Harold, the boys and I were thinking that we need a day out." Zayn said, smirking at my real name.

Liam smiled, "So I figured we should go to the beach! Go get ready Harry!"

A day at the beach? That actually sounded like fun. Fun wasn't something that happened very often anymore. However, I didn't know if Louis was going to be there or not. He always made days like this memorable.

"That sounds like fun guys, but what about Louis?" I questioned helplessly.

I watched each of the boys closely at how their smiles slowly faded.

"Well, you see Harry," Liam started slowly, aware of the new tension in the room, "we called Louis about it and he said that him and Eleanor were going to try to make it. They couldn't make any promises though."

"Well why can't they make it? And why is he bringing Eleanor?" I demanded.

Zayn sighed and patiently said, "Louis wanted to take Eleanor out for a quick mid-morning meal and then to the park. He wasn't sure when they would be done."

"Oh, I see." I said bitterly.

"Harry?" Liam asked quietly. "Is there something wrong between you and Louis?"

"No, no, no!" I said maybe a little too quickly.

Liam didn't seem to believe it, but let the subject go, which I was thankful for. It would be nice to tell the boys about my love for Louis but I know that wouldn't be possible. I just was afraid that they would judge me, Louis especially.

Before any other questions could be asked, I quickly trudged upstairs to my room.

I threw on a pair of my favorite swimming trunks. Louis actually gave this pair to me, they were red and white stripes;. Louis' favorite.

In a small bag, I packed a towel, my iPhone, my keys, my wallet, and extra clothes to change into afterwards. Satisfied, I trudged glumly down the stairs no longer ecstatic about going with Eleanor.

Once we were all ready to go, we packed our things into Liam's brand new mini van. Of course, Daddy Direction has to have a lame 'parent' car.

After arguing over who got the front with Liam, Niall finally won after an intense match of rock, paper, scissors.

During the whole ride over to the beach, the boys tried really hard to make me smile. Their goofy personalities just don't seem to have that much of an effect on me anymore. I feel bad every time I see the look of disappointment on their faces after a failed attempt, but I can't really help it. If I could change, I would.

When we finally arrived, the boys scrambled out of the car with a football in hand. They invited me to join them in their footie game, but I kindly declined. I just wanted to be alone for a little while and I went to find the perfect spot to rest.
