Chapter 06

Hakata, ready with all his might, walked into a room designed for this particular event. Only selected few was there, lining on the left and right side of the way, witnessing the exalted process. That included the Ace of Spades, Yamatonokami Yasusada, who Hakata never really met before. It wasn't much of a surprise, for the Ace was against the idea of showing himself to the public; he would only show himself in special occasions, such as this coronation ceremony.

Hakata stopped as he stood in front of the King and the Queen, with Atsushi quietly following right behind him. Drawing deep breath, both Atsushi and he started to kneel down. The Jack soon approached them to hand the King his sword. Words like chanting escaped from the King's mouth, as the King took the sword and continued on with the procedure. It all went peacefully with no particular disturbance.

Until Hakata felt the familiar warmth on his chest.

He stayed down on his knee, quietly listening to soft footsteps from behind. The footsteps kept rising in volume, indicating the person walking approached him with no hint of stopping. He didn't have to look back. He didn't have to glance.

He knew just who the person was.

With a small thud, he felt warmth emitting from his side. A young man, a cute one, with lovely pink hair, and a pair of shining beautiful aqua orbs, currently kneeling right beside him, waiting for the King's blessing as well as he himself was.

The Jack and Atsushi retreated to the side while the King and Queen moved to their position in front of their successors. Once Hakata and Akita had the King and the Queen's crowns on their head, they stood up, finally facing each other.

'So this is my partner for life...'

Different from the Jacks, for every Kings and Queens, the coronation was basically the same as a wedding. The coronation was a holy ceremony when the bond of the two was formally formed, strengthened. They took an oath to care, to share, and to promise their eternity forever and ever in each other's hands.

Hakata underwent the remaining process with his mind completely captured by the new Queen. The second he snapped back into the reality, he was already in his new room, reserved only for the King and the Queen. He sat on the edge of this huge bed by himself, inspecting every single furniture there were with no miss. After all, it was his own room, he should be the one knowing the room best.

"Excuse me?"

A gentle voice lightened him. Seriously. It was nothing but voice. And it did lighten him. What was more, he just knew it was his Queen. Did becoming a King of the strongest kingdom finally get into his head? Or was it just his Queen being so... mesmerizing?
