The next two days passed in a blur. He spent his days working on rebuilding his ranch and she with running hers and taking care of Carson.
Nighttime belonged to them. Sam showed her so many levels of passion it was insane. He never ceased to amaze her in and out of bed. She felt cherished and worthy of a good man. Carson loved him too.
Once morning when Carson woke up at 4:00am, Sam went and got him and brought him back to bed with them. He lay Carson between them and fed him his bottle. It was a very sweet moment. Mia almost let herself think about what it would be like if it were him and her and their own children one day. Then she realized that Carson was already hers. She thought of him like her own son and loved him fiercely. She knew that she would like to have more children in the future but that was a long way off.
When Carson was finished with his bottle, Sam pulled him back into him and Carson snuggled up and fell asleep, like he had been doing it all along.
Sam smiled softly first at Carson and then looked up and gave Mia another soft smile.
"I hate that I really need to get up and get to work. There is no other place I would rather be, than with Carson and you." Mia reached out her hand and stroked his cheek, trying desperately not to let the tears that were pooling into her eyes fall. He was such a sweet man, and had been dealt a really shabby hand of cards in the game of life. Maybe his luck had changed and Mia knew she would do whatever possible to make it happen.
"I know what you mean." She replied in a whisper. She gently pulled Carson into her arms so Sam could get up though. She knew that it was important for him to be on time and a good role model for his crew. The insurance company had informed him that the temporary bunkhouse was being delivered today. It made her nervous because she didnt want Sam to leave but also found it hard to ask him to stay and put him in the position. She was pretty certain she wouldnt sleep well without him by her side. He was as greedy for her body as she was for his at night.
He slid out of bed in only his boxers and came around her side of the bed to kiss her softly on the forehead and then captured her mouth in a slow, hot kiss. She was fighting to breath properly when he pulled away, a promise in his eyes. With a smirk, he turned and headed for the bathroom. She could hear the shower come on and then he started whistling. She grinned like a fool and then fell asleep with Carson.
A little bit later that morning Julia and a small crew of people showed up to set up some stuff for the benefit the next day. They soon recruited some of her men to help out and Mia really enjoyed watching them. They all seemed to know each other since it was such a small community.
They set up banners and canopies, they put out chairs and tables and even straw bales but Mia was uncertain what those were for. They set up a stage for a band that would be there to play for the crowd. It was all very exciting. Julia was running around like a chicken with its head cut off, instructing everyone what to do or where to put this or that.
Unfortunately, Mia had to leave to go into town for groceries and such. She wanted to stay and watch all the activity. So with a sigh, she loaded Carson up and headed into town.
Walking into the gracery store, Mia stopped and perused all the items on a cork board right inside the door. Lost dogs and people selling things from horses to houses. All sorts of different ads were hung up on brightly colored paper. She noticed one was advertising a need for a nursery worker at one of the local churches. It even said that daycare would be provided for any children the potential worker would need. Hmm, she thought. She had been getting bored at the house and needed to find something to do, she didnt need to make alot of money but some would help and it looked like she could bring Carson with her.
