Mia was late.  Like super late.  If she really truly looked at a calendar she would see she was like a month late.

So therefore Mia was super confused.  She had been stressing alot lately with the weird weather, Carson teething and up at all hours of the day and night, problems with the ranch and everything else. So for the first few days she had missed her period she didn't really worry about it.  Plus Sam was infertile.  They never worried about protection because of it. But she would be an idiot to ignore it now.  Yes, she was extremely tired but she never got regular sleep.  Her boobs hurt like a motherf---- and she couldn't blame that on anything.  So that meant Sam wasn't as infertile as he had thought.  Did he lie to her? No, she shook her head at her thought.  Sam wasn't a liar and he wouldn't lie about something like that. So what had happened?

So there she sat, in her car, one town over, in front of a pharmacy.  She was afraid she would run into someone she knew when she bought the over the counter test and it would get back to Sam.  Then with her luck it would be a fluke and it would strain their relationship.  She trusted him but she couldn't ignore it any longer.

Taking a deep steadying breath she forced herself to get out and go in the store.  A few minutes later, she found what she was looking for.  There was an overwhelming choice of tests that Mia couldn't even begin to focus on, so she grabbed 3 random ones and checked out. The stupid clerk smile and 'wished her well' and Mia wanted to punch her in the face. But instead she smiled and said "Umm thanks?" and walked out, trying desperately not to break into tears before she got out of the store.

Her nerves were killing her. Carson kept trying to use one of the boxes as a chew toy which did actually make her smile.

"Oh Carson. What are we going to do?" She whispered to the baby.  He was finally big enough to balance on her hip which made toting him around much easier.  He didn't respond but he did get a hank of hair in his grasp before trying to pull it out all together. "Ouch, ya meany! Let go." She laughed at him and his confused look.

Ok, head back to house.  Put Carson down for his nap and summon up enough nerve to pee on three sticks.  Game plan in force.

The 30 minutes it took to get back home felt like hours.  Then Carson went to sleep without a fuss. She had no other excuse not to take her tests. Except for the nerves welling up in her stomach.

8 minutes, 3 peed on sticks and 2 peed on fingers (eww I know) and she had her answer.

Sam was most definitely not infertile. All 3 said the same thing.  Hell, the last stick turned blue before she even got down peeing on it.

Mia slid to the floor while looking at the last test. Was she scared? Hell yes.  But she was also kind of excited. She knew she loved Sam and wanted a future and this rushed things abit but she couldn't be upset over the precious life growing inside of her either.

She really needed to tell Sam but he was out of town for 2 more days at a cattle auction.  He had asked her to go with him but she didn't feel right asking for time off at her recently acquired job.  She missed him horribly and now she needed him even more.  She knew he would be over the moon about it though.  That was  a comfort at least.

She heard her phone begin to ring so she went in search of it.  It was Sam.

"Hey sexy. How's my girl?" He asked.

"Uh- G-good.  Yeah I'm good.  How are you?" She stuttered.  She had to clear her throat to at least attempt to sound normal. Over the phone was not the proper way of telling him he had a baby on the way with his very new girlfriend.

'Whats the matter hun?" Damn the man, did he no miss anything?

"No! Nothing, everything is good. I, uh, just miss you that's all." She got out in a rush.
