Emily’s POV;

‘So when are you coming home again grandpa?’ I asked and I saw Karen and Liam look at me with worried eyes and grandpa started, ‘Sweety, we need to talk about that’ and then Karen stepped in, ‘Are you sure about telling her this yourself, now?’ she asked grandpa and I just stood there confused by everything going on. There obviously was something wrong and they knew about it. Grandpa nodded and motioned me to sit down on the couch next to his wheelchair. Karen sat in the chair next to him and Liam was on the couch with me holding my hand. ‘What is going on?!’ I asked and grandpa looked down, sighed and then he grabbed my other hand and looked me in the eyes. ‘I am really sorry Emily, me and your grandmother had another plan for telling you this but now she died so I have to tell you now, you need to know.’ I looked at Karen and her eyes were already wet. Grandpa continued; ‘When we got the call about your parents we had just gotten bad news ourselves, about me...’ and he looked down again to grab himself together, ‘I have leukemia and when we heard that I only had about 6 months left and there is nothing they can do for me anymore.’ I started crying and so did grandpa. I let go of Liams hand and sat on grandpa’s lap and hugged him. ‘I am really sorry about this sweety, I really didn’t want it to happen now or like this, I hope you understand that’ and I nodded. I went from happy to depressed within a minute and I got up and ran upstairs.
