"Alex!" a thick country accent called from behind me.
"Aj!" I ran, jumping up into his arms.
"I missed you so much!" AJ was an old boyfriend. We'd ruled the indies, and the beginning of TNA together. We promised we would find a way back, back to each other. It took everything I had in me not to kiss him.
"How's Momma, and Daddy?! How's home? Gosh, I haven't been home in so long." the back streets of Georgia, lost in the mountains is where AJ and I called home. We had graduated together, left together, started everything together. And finally...we were back at it together.
"Momma's great. She misses you and ask when I'm gunna find you all the time, and I finally did. All the time it's "AJ, you go find that girl and give her everything she deserves." it's so funny..it's like...she thinks things are the way they used to be." he laughed nervously and loosened his hold on my waist.
"Oh.." I let go from around his neck. "I thought..um..never mind..I gotta go see Becky..I'll see you around, AJ.
"Alex! Wait..now.." I kept walking and collapsed onto the couch in my locker room. Tears flooded my eyes and I sobbed into the soft fake leather.
"Alex! Did you know AJ Styles is here?" Becky came busting in. "I haven't seen him in so long! He's such a great guy." She laughed. "Lass, what's wrong?" I took off my locket and opened it, throwing it at her. "I'll always find my way back to you. We'll make it in the end. I love you. - AJ." she read and I weeped even harder. "Oh darling, of course he remembers. He just text me not two days ago and asked about you. Darlin' he's probably scared." I didn't take her advice and stayed in my dressing room all night. The next day, I sat on the plane, headphones in..staring at my locket when someone came and sat next to me. I quickly closed the locket and looked to the left, it was Aj.
"You still have it..." he took it and ran his thumb over the A on the front.
"It's what keeps me going." I smiled at him.
"About last night..."
"Don't. It's okay." I took the locket back, placed it around my neck and leaned on his shoulder, his fingers intertwined with mine. Soon I drifted off to sleep. As I was waking up, I heard "I'll always find my way back to you. We'll make it in the end. I love you. I promise I do." and his lips softly kissed my hair. I played it off for a few minutes and then woke up.
"Do you remember how you used to talk me out of my nerves before championship matches?" I said that night as we were getting ready
"I do." he laughed as be finished taking my hand.
"Tonight's the night. Me and Char." I tried to swallow my nerves but I couldn't.
"You got this baby girl, I've never met a girl as good as you. And I never will. You're the best there has ever been. No one else can do like you. You're going to be the queen of this industry, I'll be right there being your king. There's nothing you and I cannot do." as he talked, I watched him transform back into a kid. Back into the AJ he was when we first started. The AJ I loved more than anyone else in this whole entire world. So, the same way I always had after championship speeches, I kissed him softly, slowly. Falling in love with the taste of his lips all over again. His hair was longer now, his face had more shape to it, but his lips...they were as perfect as ever. They melted into mine. We were two puzzle pieces that belonged together.
"Alex.."
"Later babe, I have a belt to bring home." I kissed him playfully and skipped off to the roar of an Atlanta crowd."From Gainesville, Georgia. She is your hometown queen...Alex!" I fed into the energy as I flipped my hood walking down to the ring. I winked, making little finger pistols just for my boy in the back.
We battled and battled for what felt like years. But in the end, it paid of. Every last bit of blood sweat and tears. I did it..I held that beautiful piece of metal in my hand. After Charlotte had tapped, I just fell onto the mat. As I attempted to catch my breath, the ref laid the belt across my waist. I clung to it, crying through messy hair and smeared makeup.
The crowd roared and cheered so loud I couldn't hear myself think. I finally stood, holding my belt high. I mouthed thank you over and over again. I gave high fives and hugs on my way back to the locker room.As soon as I hit the curtain I was welcomed with applause and hugs. "I'm so proud of you.'s and "I knew you could" flooded me. AJ ran to me, wrapping me up in the biggest hug he'd given me in years.
"That's my baby girl." he held me tight and kissed me hard. I melted into his embrace, feeding it all back to him.
"AJ...I love you." I said with tears in my eyes.
"Come here." he smiled as he pulled me away from all the noise.
"AJ..I mean it. I promised I'd find my way back to you, and I have to have you again. I need you to be in my life like that again. I'm sorry if you don't want that. I'm sorry if you don't want me anymore. I'm beyond in love with you." He kissed me, passionately and I fed back into it with everything I had.
"Alex.." he dropped down to one knee.
"AJ." I gasped.
"I've loved you since I was 13. I'm always going to love you. And I want to love you for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?" I gasped. I couldn't breathe, let alone talk.
"Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes." he picked me up and spun me around. The wedding was set for October back home. I was going to be Mrs.AJ Styles.
