House of Accusations

Chapter 9

________________________

Joy's POV

After school that day, I went over to Mara's room and knocked on her door.

There was no reply.

I slowly opened the door to find her sitting on her bed with her head buried in between her legs.

"Mara?" I asked as I sat down beside her.

She looked up at me with sad eyes.

"Have you found anything?" She asked.

I showed her Jerome's enrolment forms which I had taken from Sweetie's office.

"Look."

She grabbed it out of my hands and began reading each line.

"This doesn't explain anything!" She yelled at me while skimming through the pages of the form.

"Well yeah but I mean they can't do anything with Jerome if they don't have this right?" I assured her trying to get her to cheer up a bit.

She slightly smiled and nodded her head.

"I suppose."

I hugged her and stood up pulling her arm with me.

"Now, let's go and get a quick snack before dinner."

Fabian's POV

I was sitting in the living room after school trying to figure out the chemistry homework we were given on the first day back at school.

"Fabian." I heard from the left of where I was sitting.

I turned to see Nina leaning on the door frame.

She came up to me and sat down beside me.

"So what you working on?" She asked.

"Just that chemistry assignment Sweetie gave us yesterday." I replied pointing at my work.

Nina smiled and took out the key locket from her pocket.

She began examining in back and front, side to side.

"I wonder what it could be for." She said not looking away from the locket.

Just as I was about to continue my work I remembered something.

"You said you overheard Lilian say that she was going to find the key right?" Nina nodded.

"Maybe that locket opens up the place where the key is? Like how your locket opens doors for places?" I suggested to her.

"Maybe, but we've been using my locket for two years. I think we would have noticed something Fabian." She said still looking at the locket.

"Yeah, you're probably right." I replied.

"Hey, have you guys seen Eddie?" Patricia asked as she walked into the living room.

"He's probably in our room." I suggested.

"I already checked. It's like he's been ignoring all day." She said looking confused.

"You did runaway from him at lunch today, when you came to me and Fabian." Nina reminded her as she finally looked away from the locket.

"I'll check his room again." She said and with that she walked out of the living room.
