House of Beginnings

Part 2 of Chapter 1

Mara's POV

When I walked into the kitchen I saw Jerome sitting on the counter muttering to himself. He began rubbing his hands together while moving his feet. I wonder what it could be.

"Jeromeo? What's wrong .. ?"

No reply. He looked a bit too frustrated. And not the frustrated you see when he and Alfie fail at a prank.

"Hun? Jerome?"

He turned to me, gave me a confused look, shook his head and returned to his frustrated state. 

I walked over to him and gave him a hug expecting him to return the hug.

"Okay, that's it. Jerome. What's wrong?"

"Oh, Mara Hey. Um .. Just thinking."

"About?"

"Stuff. Yep. That's it, stuff."  

He got up, quickly kissed me on the cheek and walked off in frustration.

What was that about? It must've been something serious. He's never like this.  

I began walking towards the living room, and I saw Fabian & Nina sitting at one of the couches.

"Guys, do you know what's wrong with Jerome?"

"Oh, um, no he was like that ever since I came." Replied Nina.

Goodness. I can't bare to seem him like that. I had to find out what was wrong. And I will find out.

Eddie's POV

I opened the door to my room and looked outside to see if anyone was there. Nope. Thank god. As I was about to enter the corridor which lead to the kitchen, I saw Mara coming out.

"Eddie! Have you seen Jerome?"

"Uh, Jerry. Nope. Not at all. Come to think of it, I haven't seen him since I came."

She shook her head in confusion and ran up the stairs.

As soon as I took one step into the kitchen. I heard a loud, assertive voice coming from upstairs. Victor.

"ALRIGHT EVERYONE. I WANT EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU TO MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE LIVING ROOM RIGHT THIS INSTANT! I HAVE SOME INFORMATION THAT NEEDS TO BE SHARED!"

I sighed. I thought Victor might have tuned down a little over the holidays. But once again, I was wrong.  

One by one all the Anubis residents made their way into the living room. We all lined up in straight line. Fabian, Nina, Amber, Alfie, Mara, Joy, Patricia, Jerome then me.  

As soon as Victor came down, everyone straightened up. Except Jerome.  

I whispered,

"Hey, buddy, you okay?"  

No response.

"Jerry?"

"EDISON MILLER! YOU BETTER QUITEN DOWN BOY!"

"Uh huh. Sure."

"NOW, Anubis house was informed that One NEW Resident will be joining you lot. A person from the feminine si-"

"But, there's like no space for anyone to join us."

"And why is that Miss. Millington? I'm sure there is plenty of space upstairs."

"You haven't been there. Me and Nina can barely fit our stuff. And like, my wardrobe is already so filled and you don't wanna hear about my dresser!"

"Miss. Millington, if that's the case, I will order a room change."

The room buzzed with concerns.  

"What? NO! That's not fair." Was all I heard. And by one voice. Amber.

"Uh uh. My choice is made. Now, The following changes are as follows. Nina, Mara & the new resident, Miss. KT Rush will be sharing a room. Joy, Patricia & Amber will share the other room. And the boys will stay the same."  

As I was about to hi five Fabian, we all turned to look at the knock we heard at the door. A girl with frizzy, curly hair showed up.

She waved.  

"Hi guys."

We all slowly waved back.

"Miss. Rush. Welcome. These are your fellow residents & students. Fabian Rutter, Nina Martin, Amber Millington, Alfie Lewis, Mara Jaffray, Joy Mercer, Patricia Williamson, Jerome Clarke and Edison Miller."

I coughed.  

"Eddie, Victor, It's E-d-d-i-e. Please get it right next time."

He scoffed.  

"EDISON MILLER! YOU WILL NOT SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT!"

He came so close to me, his nose was about two cm away from mine.  

I moved my head back. Man, I know he's always down in the cellar or whatever, but would it kill him to take a mint?

"NOW! All of you better get up to your bedrooms and unpack! And as soon as you're done, all of you will report down here immediately."

Everyone sighed. And we made our way to our bedrooms.

Amber's POV

Ugh! Really Victor a room change?  

I was so mad I could pull my hair out. Wait. No. Bald is definitely not trending right now. I fixed my hair and quickly walked up the stairs in pure anger.

As I was about to open my "new" bedroom door. I saw Patricia about to enter the girls bathroom. Her eyes were so red, that you could call her cheeks pink. Wait. That doesn't make sense. Wait. Yes it does. Oh my gosh, I don't care.

"Patricia, There's something wrong isn't there?" I asked.

"Oh wow Amber, you're a genius. How'd you know?" She replied rolling her eyes.

"It's a gift."

"Whatever." She muttered.

"Patricia, I know it's Eddie. I know he broke up with you. It's okay. You can talk to me about it. I'm like, the loooooove doctor. No wait, I'm the loooooove Fashionista."

"How you find out? Wait. Did Joy tell you? I'm going to-"

"No no no. I could tell by your actions so far. Like, if you dumped Eddie, you wouldn't be tearing your eyes up. And if he dumped you, well .. You'd be acting like this."

"Okay so what do I do?"

"Oh, once again, I've got to sort out a Love disaster. I swear if only relationships were nice, calm and well sorte-."

I was interrupted by a screaming Alfie.

"AMBER! GUESS WHA-"

"Not now Alfie!"

"Gosh, Boys are really annoying sometimes."
